ah, I can see why you´d have a problem with Sobin. In the webtoon she wasn´t a main character therefore you didn´t really care, however they made her a main character in the drama so you were (and still are) expecting more character development and to go deeper into her character, which you have not been given. As for the mistakes, i´m not sure as to what mistakes she has made... I´ll be honest, she isn´t the best person as sometimes she seems needy and needs an explanation for most things, but I´m not quite she she has made any mistakes. I can also agree with her just being there, she doesn´t add much to the story so I can see that point as well.
I'm not Quite sure why people are saying that this drama has failed to reach its potential. Is it because Nam Soo was gay in the webtoon? Is it because the webtoon was better? What is it?

It might have been both of them (the father and brother). We have yet to be told about Joon's past, but the reason he was talking about his brother and not his father was because So Bin was going to be helping his brother. Joon didn't want her to, so he told her about his brother instead of his father, if he brought about his father then it wouldn't make sense, so I believe that his brother most likely hit him as well.
