On Fangs of Fortune Dec 10, 2024
A great deal of pathos—perhaps too much for my liking, especially in the final third of the series. Even so, I don’t regret watching Fangs of Fortune for a single moment. The story is crafted with care and finesse, while the characters are deeply endearing and exquisitely portrayed. What struck me most, however, was the dreamlike quality that pervades the series, brought to life through its stunning visuals. Each episode feels like a lucid dream—or a nightmare. The boundaries of reality blur, doubt lingers, and emotions are magnified. For all these reasons, Fangs of Fortune will stay with me.

With each episode I watch, I’m increasingly convinced that God would be the perfect boyfriend! It’s not just his effortless good looks — his deep respect and genuine thoughtfulness toward Diew are truly remarkable. Every word he speaks is carefully chosen, and every gesture radiates kindness. There’s never a careless remark or a sudden mood swing that could hurt his beloved. Honestly, I can’t imagine a more ideal partner!

I don't find this series to be anywhere near as good as the original. I'm not saying it's bad, just that it lacks the intensity of the Chinese version. Especially the actor who plays Hero doesn't convince me at all. It should look like he is enthralled by Poppy, but most of the time he has a blank stare and a static facial expression, so I cannot fully engage with the story. Perhaps I would enjoy the series more if I forgot it was an adaptation.

Title The On1y One
Watching the first two episodes was really enjoyable for me. The plot isn't that original, but the characters and dialogue seem more genuine than in many other BL series. There is often a greater sense of realism and less forced storytelling in Taiwanese BL series, which I appreciate. Also, the dynamic between the main characters looks very promising. It will be interesting to see how the next episodes turn out.

Title Monster Next Door Spoiler
Episode 5 feels like the start of a new chapter. A relationship is developing between God and Diew, as they become more infatuated. The two of them already support each other when they face challenges. I really like that. I was shocked when the professor humiliated Diew in front of the entire class. If you teach communication, how can you not be aware that publicly designating someone as an example not to follow could have serious consequences? There was nothing educational about it, it was just mean. But this is fiction, isn't it? Maybe I'm going a bit overboard. Whatever the case, I'm eager to watch the next episode.

Currently on episode 3. It's a cute series with a perfect premise for romantics. Diew needs to loosen up soon, that's my only hope. Also, he should petition his hairdresser! lol

the reasons we don't like Liu Li:1. he's supposed to be the writer of 2 successful romance books based on his…
I couldn't agree more! Having a romantic streak at heart, I have to admit that Liu Li's innocence appealed to me at first. Now, the more the plot progresses - and here I'm being very kind; objectively speaking, the drama is rather slow and flat - the more I dislike the childlike nature of his character. Having no clue, he fails to act when he should, hurting Gu Jing's feelings in the process. How is that consistent with someone who writes romance books? My dearest Gu Jing, the time has come for you to teach Liu Li how things work in the world!!!

The drama was overall enjoyable for me. Rowoon is incredibly handsome, perfectly groomed, and performs every action with the aplomb of a fashion model, causing him to look unnatural at times. His acting skills are most impressive in the tension-filled scenes. However, in the romantic scenes, he doesn't seem entirely comfortable with his partner. There is a divide among viewers about Jo Bo Ah's talent as an actress, and I can understand why. She is neither very good nor very bad in my opinion. I think the problem lies elsewhere. Prior to realizing that the screenwriter was female, I thought her part was written by some misogynist. Seriously, I don't believe any woman in her right mind would act like Lee Hong Jo in real life! It doesn't matter what advice or signs she gets, she keeps throwing herself into the lion's den without a second thought. Every time we hope she'll finally open her eyes and stop putting the man she loves under so much pressure, we watch her make irrational decisions. The drama could have been a big hit if her role had been better developed.

Title Heartbeat Spoiler
Do you remember the end? Could you please explain it because I'm confused? [1] How did the ML half-vampire survive?…
The ML chooses death. Only through his sacrifice can he avoid draining the woman he loves of her blood, and he can undo the SML's curse. Although the SML wasn't shown drinking the ML's blood, we understand that he did, since he survived. In the final scene, the FL catches the ML gazing at her, but he is no longer alive; he is a vision. In her mind, he is still present at her side, proud of what she has achieved in saving the guest house. That's what I can make out, at least!

Title Heartbeat
As much as I understand the viewers' frustration with the script's flaws and the cast's lack of drive in the second half, this drama deserves credit for offering a fresh perspective on the vampire theme. Heartbeat would have been a huge hit if it had sustained the humor of its first few episodes. The melodrama in this series has tipped it over into dullness. Even so, I'm glad I watched Heartbeat for Ok Taec Yeon's charming performance as a pure-hearted vampire and for the jubilant comedy at the beginning.

Beautiful story. It gives food for thought. The male lead is great. This show deserves a higher rating for sure. It stands out in so many ways. It is not so much about being or feeling gay. It is about acceptance and resilience, about embracing your vulnerabilities to allow yourself to become happy.

This drama gave me all the feels and got me thinking about how strong the family ties are. The whole cast is brilliant and the wedding scene is such a heart-warming moment, surprisingly perfect in its imperfections.

Too much tragedy, too much viciousness, too much foolishness. It looks as if the screenwriter is striving to replace one evil by another. It is a good drama. Well played. Well shot. Yet the story just got me down.

Sorry my English will not be that good, but this is a beautiful drama and I want to encourage people to watch it. It is not an easy watch, some moments are terribly sad, but this show sheds new light on how life has its ordeals that shape who we are throughout the journey. It is an eye-opener and, as far as I am concerned, a heart-opener too. At times, I wanted to drop watching the show because the narrative seemed too depressing or confusing. I am glad I finished watching it. Everything made sense in the end. The narrative is actually brilliant. So is the acting! The Light In Your Eyes is something else, don't be afraid to experience it!

I got curious about the ending, since many mention that - most in not a very good perspective. Would you mind…
Hong Jo reappears as a man, or so it seems. Dreamlike quality of the final scene.

Unlike most of the reviewers below, this drama brought me nothing but pure joy. I know the story is super cliché but it is supposed to be lighthearted and not to be taken too seriously. The chemistry between Sol Ah and Hong Jo is just adorable and the bonding between Jae Sun and Hong Jo is cherry on top of the cake. Plus, the open ending made sense to me. I will miss this show.

I'm on episode 3 and it's official I hate Soo Ah for the friend she is not. I find her to be even meaner than the President as he does not disguise himself nor does he pretend to be anything he is not. She on the other hand acts like a friend dolled up in sheep's clothing, but inwardly is a ravening wolf. I really hope she will show some redeeming qualities eventually. I'm rooting for Sae Ro Yi, he's the real class act!
