I'm so sorry to fact check you on soemthing so small but the IV not being connected to anything isnt an inaccuracy to be upset about, medically speaking. An IV's purpose is simply to administer medication AND fluids to patients. Fluids arent going to be given to patients the whole time they have an IV, once they finish a fluid bag the doctor may not feel there is a need for another bag straight away or at all, during the patients stay in the hospital. It gets removed when the doctor decides to have it removed or the patient is discharged. Typically these 2 things happen in succession.
