I think it works charmingly. The younger versions of themselves show how naive and optimistic they once were and having younger actors works well to show that. The older versions show how worn down they are with both their individual struggles.

This was reminiscent of all the 00's Korean tearjerkers. Lighthearted, comedic, and fun at the start but takes a melodramatic turn during the last 20 minutes. Sad ending or not, I want more of these
