Decent Japanese style horror movie (the director is Japanese), not too scary in my opinion. Started out like The Ring but it turned out differently, liked the little plot twist with the ghost.
The first season was ridiculous, full of "facepalm" moments (stupid plot, stupid characters). It could have been AMAZING with that premise (secret experiments, monster, a little romance, blah blah blah), but the execution was a joke. I mean... it was hilarious in a way, I laughed so much because it was so bad. :D
I will definitely watch season 2. Just for the laugh. :D
Loved the novel (Life for Sale by Yukio Mishima), the movie is loosely based on the book. The story is similar (ML wants to die, posts an ad and puts his life for sale),but that's it. The plotlines are different, the characters are different (the ML is more likeable than in the book imho), and the whole setting is a bit... darker? I liked it overall, it captured the essence of the novel very well.
What a hidden gem.... Loved it. Every bit of it. The story is simple, but very touching. The main characters (the ex-convict "Croc" and the farmer lady Chen) were a great match and the ending was very... hmm, satisfying. :)
