When reading articles like these, people have to think through an answer, taking in count the people who will read it and how it will affect them. We all have to remember that Asian dramas depicts the attitudes, relationships, characteristics and behaviors of the Asian society. From this article alone, one could assume that this person is not part of the Asian society/community, because this article displays many westernized views, but nevertheless it doesn't mean that the person who wrote the article shouldn't have written. She has the right to state her opinion about what is wrong with Asian dramas, and many of the things she stated are true. Some of the people defending most of the things stated in the article probably have never experienced it themselves or because they are too problematic to realize that just because they like it, it doesn't mean it's right. Verbal and physical abuse in (some) Asian dramas is dubbed as romantic and meaningful, and that the female and male characters should be thankful that the male/female pays attention to them. It shouldn't be this way and Asian Dramas have come a long way with female and male characters who oppose and fight against the abuse. This is a great article and needs to be read 4 or more times until people understand that bigotry is bad and not acceptable. But should cutting one's hair be called (TW: rape)? Yes it could because another meaning of (TW: rape) is destruction and strip of its possession. The hair is hers and her parents cutting it, is stripping her possession. There are many words with different meaning.
P.S: maybe next time don't post people's comments about the dramas they like. Talk about the comments in general without shaming people. I will be looking forward to another article written by you.
