I think he was not lost in the past, instead his son brought him to the future. So every one though he disappeared. But it was his son who dragged him to future. And if it's true, then their powers are curses.

The thing I have the most in this drama is how they are trying to force the wife of the cop to sign the organ donation form in episode 19. Man this is completely unethical, what ever the future is or what ever her reason is these things shouldn't be forced. I know many many say I have misunderstood the situation but no I know what I am talking about.
