I hope people give his acting more credit. He definitely held his own with Zhao Lusi and Chen Zheyuan during Hidden Love (and his scenes might have been some of the most memorable, actually). I personally thought he really brought Sang Yan to life as a very complete character :)
May be Lighter & Princess. Slow burn romance, first love for each other, good plots, lots of angsts. In terms…
I second this. I think that Lighter and Princess actually feels even darker and more realistic to me; the characters have a lot more depth in their interactions imo. A lot of things obviously didn't make a whole lot of sense to me as a viewer in TFF, and I felt less so that way watching L&P.
I don't know if I should blame my current mental state for this but I wish I had enjoyed this drama more than…
I think you're right; I thought the story to be romantic while reading the book. The more I mulled it over, the weirder I found it to be. After WYF's rejection, Sang Yan continuously buys plane tickets just to "kindly stalk" her for 4-6(?) years despite getting nothing in return.
It's also really interesting when she willingly decides to go back to Nanwu one day from Hong Kong after Sang Yan sees her... 1.5 years and then suddenly they're back together like normal? A lot of the plot lines felt relatively unbelievable to me and I think that detached me from the characters a little more than usual : (
Came here because it always comes up as reccomendation I didn't really finished HLIt becomes weird for me when…
I think you'll enjoy this one more. This one is definitely a lot darker, as Wen Yifan's past trauma is what guides her interactions with other characters (especially her family) in the novel. I don't think they're leaving it out, esp with 34 40-minute long-ish episodes.
Hidden Love felt a little off for me too; probably because the FML's character is just generally cute and sweet in a childlike way even after she grows up, making the relationship feel a little off sometimes.
could someone explain how this is connected to hidden love? i haven't seen that one
It can definitely stand alone; they're more of sister novels than dependent on each other. Sang Yan is just the older brother of the female lead and best friend of the male lead in Hidden Love.
Looking forward to checking this one out... I've looked into the plot and characters and they seem intelligent. Revenge stories don't get old when done right. Any recommendations on what to look for (OST, scenes, loopholes)?
When asked about her ideal type, she ended up describing her friend's boyfriend. She's always eager to know what's…
I think QY is definitely pretty bothersome... NO real friend would do that. Shao Yichen, who I think is actually a nice guy, is also an interesting character. He's gentle, caring, and really does love Ji Xing, but I think he does acknowledge that their relationship is going nowhere because of the difference in their priorities. Curious to see if the two end up with a relationship, as in Shao Yichen and QY (who is definitely not as nice as Shao Yichen or as she seems).
I keep thinking about this, and I think my personal bias could have influenced my opinion here;
1. I think some of the acting is expressive, but not realistic. The veteran actors and actresses were definitely great. Liu Yijun has never delivered anything short of magnificent. I think Zhao Jinmai will mature with time, but she and some of the other younger actors portrayed characters expressively but not realistically. Thinking about how you would react to situations like talking about the time loop for the first time, she's simply a little too calm- even for the character Li Shiqing.
Li Shiqing is a heroic character, yes, but the script writes her as scared in the beginning for valid reasons.
2. I think the plot does drag in the last few episodes, despite the very good pacing before then. Episodes 6-12 are where it's at : )
I'll continue commenting revisions because I find people read those more than edits on the actual review.
