For better or for worse, your description of the dragon is much more beautiful than anything this drama has produced so far. I, too, can see it lip-syncing a song while frolicking about the stage of CCTV's Spring Festival Gala alongside this year's new Kung Fu robots.
Its cringe factor is pretty consistent with almost everything else in this show too, which is both disturbing and funny.
I was going to write one of my own, but I think you pretty perfectly captured what I wanted to and would have less articulately said.
I agree that the romances and "crush" situations for these characters are somewhat childish and immature. The female lead was indeed slightly too old for the Zhuang Xu puppy love, and Lin Yusen's overwhelming devotion for Nie Xiguang after a mere party encounter reminded me strongly of Jay Gatsby.
The section about the show being a giant advertisement for the Chinese solar market made me laugh (in a good way, of course)! The inclusion of solar technicalities throughout the show were honestly quite abrupt and too obviously "party-minded".
I also watched 30 episodes of this for the vibes with a bunch of fast-forwarding and remember very little beyond thinking that people were watching a different show than I (the general consensus seems to be that this show is very real and mature).
Unnecessary drama and illogical plot.So she doesn't tell him why he needs the GM because oh he promised his master…
I agree with some of this; I do think, though, that the female lead had disclosed Ming Xian was "poisoned" and assumed the identity of "Ming Xian's fiancee". That being said, it makes sense that she didn't ask JBZ for the Golden Millet Dream (though I think it would honestly be fine if she did) because it would seem like she's around him to save her other love. I don't know why the female lead cannot reveal herself as Ming Xian instead of the fiancee, however, for people are already aware that she's from Yao Guang and whatnot I believe.
I am going to keep watching because I do find Lu Yuxiao charming and the visuals to be beautiful, though.
im abt to watch this, would yall say its better than JOL?
Less comedic relief and fight scenes, so less fluff. I definitely think the characterization and plot are much more intricate than JoL objectively though.
I just finished joy of life 1 and adored it. NIF always gets reccomended im a bit scared to watch it though bc…
I would watch it! The language is much denser and less light hearted than JoL, but I personally found it thought-provoking and incomparably intricate. May seem slower in the beginning though since it's less flashy : )
To the folks who have really enjoyed this drama: I'm about 16 eps in and I'm still not really getting into it.…
I think it depends on the type of drama you like. This is intense but slow paced, and I personally found it the single most rewarding drama I've watched given the immensely intricate plot. It will not get any lighter or flashier as you watch, so if you're looking for those things, it may not feel like it gets better to you.
Wait, isn't it impossible? WRTW aired in 2022 and FITYS aired in 2021
She's watching the Untamed. I think it might be censored in China now, but you can still access it on a lot of sites! The drama has an insanely tight plot but is also pretty corny sometimes : )
I think your last sentence explains the Chong absence. Earlier comments said that the show dropped from over 30…
Yeah, the cutting really hurt the drama. I think it had a lot of potential and a unique idea, actually, especially since the first few episodes were plenty engaging. It's a shame.
What to watch after that? I can't find another drama that I like nowadays. 😩
I am Nobody and its second season are incredibly funny. Similar funny vibe but no romance and it's fantasy (manga-based). The acting is probably also the best you'll get out of young C-drama actors these days.
Reset is great imo; it's a thriller and genuinely a well-executed, overall well-acted drama.
Falling Into Your Smile is peak humor for a romance, but it's definitely more romance based and less wacky.
I really really hate it when in last few episodes the characters do that Btch move like "I'll leave everything…
I think the idea made sense but the execution didn’t. She leaves for 400 days ish and one day suddenly changes her mind and asks everyone to come back. After they come nack, there's no growth or change in the relationships and therefore no purpose in the arc. We already know Wen Yifan is broken and noncommunicative, and this arc just made me doubt the depth of the scriptwriting and interactions rather than add to it. I had a lot of problems with the resolutions to very serious conflicts in this drama, too.
I hope hou minghao for the male lead, and tian xiwei for the female lead, pleaseee😭🤏
I was thinking this, Hou Minghao seems like someone that could play the traumatized and very complicated character of Fu Shize. He also resembles the book description because of his subtler and elegant features.
Its cringe factor is pretty consistent with almost everything else in this show too, which is both disturbing and funny.
Regardless, wonderful and whimsical review!
