Personally, I feel like the projects they have handled recently have improved. They're certainly not perfect, but I do think they've done a much better job on their most recent series than they've done previously. Frankly in the BL industry as a whole a completely knock-out amazing series can be a bit hit and miss, even production houses who've had stellar productions have faltered on other projects due to different factors. Fan pressure and demands, without really knowing the intricacies or complications that might go into each project, don't really help imo. I just think it does no good to add an additional reason for them to try and rush something out, rather than allowing them to take their time with things. There are also a lot of simple reasons why they might not be able to hire more staff, funding being a big one. What might seem like a simple solution from someone on the outside looking in, might not be as easily resolved as one might think. Also, it's not uncommon for series and movies to be years in the making in most countries, I don't know why in BL fans have lost the ability to be patient as long as the projects are still moving forward. Fans want everything to happen as quickly as possible so they can consume the content but then get upset when it isn't an A-list result. The constant demand for everything to happen as soon as possible is detrimental in so many ways, particularly to the actors themselves in being shunted from one project to the next while also trying to do promotions, fan meets, sponsorships, etc. A little breathing room isn't all bad.

What people have to realize is that quality series take time, especially one that's going to be as complicated to get right as Khemjira. They are under a lot of pressure for this to be done well because the novel is so popular and beloved, but also deals with sensitive cultural material. It's why the original production was dropped, there was a huge controversy around the original casting choices and the way they represented certain aspects of the novel, so much so the original production house sold it on instead of trying to re-cast. I've actually been surprised that it has moved forward so quickly and as someone who really loves the novel would much rather they take their time and get it right. This could go really wrong for everyone involved if they don't do a good job with it.

This isn't the original production announced two years ago. That was dropped and was in limbo until the series was bought by Domundi and recast (this was only a year ago). They are in the final queue of filming and are already working on post-production, the series will likely air in the last half of the year.

I know, as a Spanish speaker who is also a writer and avid reader haha there's just a difference in reading something in its original language. There's some things a translation can't replicate.

Such an excellent series from start to finish. The story, the acting, the production, everything was outstanding. I loved everything about it, but I think I fell in love with the narration the most. Jin's poetic depiction of his and Haruki's story was SO unbelievably beautiful. I kept rewinding to hear certain lines over again. I wish I could read the novel in Japanese, I feel like it would be a special experience. This is one of those series that you kind of just...don't want to end, or you wish you could have the experience of watching again for the first time.

I think it's easy to forget that actually yes; intolerance, lack of understanding, and lack of acceptance is still the norm for most queer individuals in most countries. Even in the U.S. with the current political environment it's actually gotten a lot scarier and less accepting. The more conservative a country is, the harder it is for people who identify differently to live normal, open lives, and to feel safe sharing who they are. It's easy to forget or not understand that if you've never experienced what that's like.

It's the reality for a lot of people though, especially in conservative countries, but even in places like the U.S. its gotten scarier and less accepting. That's what was the most heartrending for me about the last two episodes, in showing how much Jin wanted to just exist in his overwhelming love of Haruki with the weight of real life in the balance. I thought it was beautiful that the end was essentially Haruki reassuring him that he was his and they'd be together no matter what. Given that it's an unknown when or if Japan would ever legalize gay marriage, and while there has certainly been progress in recent years the reality for queer individuals there and in most countries is far from ideal.

They've improved, Dunk especially since he's finished school and dedicated his full focus on acting. I've always felt that each role he's done better than the last, but it was more obvious to people seeing him in Summer Night and then now in The Heart Killers. He's been working hard and it shows.

I'm so excited for this. It's definitely in my top line up of series I'm anticipating in the new year.

Man Style is going to be the death of me, I can already tell I'm gonna love that little brat. Not to mention his and Fadel's romantic trope is one of my favorites, their dynamic is going to be so entertaining to watch. This storyline is something so new for the JD duo that I'm probably the most looking forward to their character development throughout the show. And of course, FirstKhao as Kant and Bison, they just never disappoint.

No...this is a mess, like an actual certifiable MESS. The plot is a disaster. I know we've gotten some ridiculous series this year but I was so hoping they'd knock it out of the park with this one for YinWar. I don't even want to finish it I'm so bitter about it.

This is going to be highly controversial, but I'm so disappointed in this series. This has to have been one of my most anticipated series this year. I was so excited to get a series like this for Yin and War, but...the plot is actually crap. Not only does it make no sense, it's so unbelievably juvenile for what the series is trying to portray. It's the exact same issue I have with Kidnap. If you're going for gritty then...give us gritty! This is these companies wanting the audience for a gripping drama, but pussyfooting around when it comes to the actual plot because they want the heroes to remain pristine instead of just giving us well-written anti-heroes. For example, can someone explain to me how Jack is supposedly paying for every debtor while being in debt himself? Or since by some miracle, he is doing that, why everyone in the beginning is terrified of him - like why was that man running for his life and about to kill either himself or Jack, but halfway through the series everyone is excited to see Jack and asks him to take care of their money problems? Also why can't Joker; who supposedly was such an amazing thief - as a high school kid mind you - his name still lives in infamy even after he disappeared in prison for years, can't seem to keep a heist together to save his life? It's not even that someone on the team fucks up, HE bungles it every time. Don't even get me started on the adoptive son/arranged marriage garbage we've been having to endure. This was such a missed opportunity with Yin and War leading. They could have done such amazing things with the premise. I keep imagining how good it would have been if Joker was an incredible thief with his own calling card who we get to watch successfully thwart and steal from oligarchs like the 4 Horseman to help the people under their thumb and they assign a jaded, now teetering on the morally grey scale, Jack to the job of finding and eliminating him for his freedom. Joker hates Jack for being what he sees as a cog upholding a corrupt system - not realizing a heist he pulled off ruined his life - and Jack hates Joke for being the catalyst for him losing everything. Add to that they're insanely attracted to each other while equally trying to bring the other down? That's an enemies-to-lovers trope I want to actually see play out damn it. Worse we've spent almost the entire series practically watching them play as platonic friends together. This is a pairing that has explosive romantic chemistry just standing in the same room together and they've managed to ruin it. As much as I love Yin and War, they couldn't save this for me. I'm actually kind of angry on their behalf. I was excited when we got the pilot, I was worried when we got the actual teaser, and now I just feel like I'm watching a trainwreck happen in real-time.

JD are one of the most popular and lucrative pairings GMMTV have. People don't want to hear it but it's a fact. Both of them are hugely in demand, Dunk has become like man of the year he's bagged so many brand deals. I've been happy to see them be so successful both together and apart, they've worked incredibly hard. Dunk especially has really come into his own once he finished school and decided to put his all into his career. People treat him like shit without giving him the grace most rookie actors are afforded to grow and improve. He was excellent in Summer Night so I'm excited to see him bring Style to life, I already have a feeling he's going to be a hugely beloved character. I suspect THK is going to be THE series for them. You can tell they've both really enjoyed the whole process.

So. Good!!! It has me feeling every emotion. This past episode especially...I'm sorry but I loved the bridge scene, it was so them. The acting is superb, the chemistry is off the wall, the comedy is sharp and witty with that quintessential Japanese slapstick that isn't easy to pull off, and the storyline and writing is great. Everything about this series has been a rare wonderful mix of the unexpected, quirky, off-kilter, ridiculous, hilarious, but also somehow wholesome and feel good? Ryo as this awkward almost painfully introverted anti-social, anti-romantic hero with a killer wardrobe and big brain is everything I didn't know I needed in a lead. With Haruto as his complete complement but opposite in almost every way except for his equally sharp brain (a fluffy bunny with teeth lol) leading him around by the nose is A+ characterization. The casting of these two was also wholly excellent, they embody their characters so well. Definitely my favorite series airing right now. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer!

I'm looking forward to this one a lot

They haven't started filming yet, I don't think they've even started workshops for this yet. From what I think I remember hearing, Aof said in an interview that this isn't going to release until next year because they want to be careful and do it justice, so I'd recommend patience lol.

I just finished reading the novel and I'm even more excited for this, I couldn't put it down. It was fun re-watching the pilot and certain scenes making a new kind of sense. They definitely changed some things around (like they author warned) so it makes me curious to see how they're going to go about the story progression. Not that it's bad in any way but definitely different, so I'm wondering if that was just so they could get as much of the initial introduction of the characters in the pilot as possible or if they'll really go that route with how they pace the series. I also now understand the novel's fans curiosity/hesitance over how they're going to portray certain scenes, it could have the potential to be really amazing or go really wrong. I'm going to hold my breath and trust that DMD and Aof will do a good job, if only because they have a lot riding on this (the backlash would be horrendous if they drop the ball) and they literally have everything going for them: great story/writing, good production budget (apparently), talented cast...please do this justice, I beg.
