This is going to be highly controversial, but I'm so disappointed in this series. This has to have been one of my most anticipated series this year. I was so excited to get a series like this for Yin and War, but...the plot is actually crap. Not only does it make no sense, it's so unbelievably juvenile for what the series is trying to portray. It's the exact same issue I have with Kidnap. If you're going for gritty then...give us gritty! This is these companies wanting the audience for a gripping drama, but pussyfooting around when it comes to the actual plot because they want the heroes to remain pristine instead of just giving us well-written anti-heroes. For example, can someone explain to me how Jack is supposedly paying for every debtor while being in debt himself? Or since by some miracle, he is doing that, why everyone in the beginning is terrified of him - like why was that man running for his life and about to kill either himself or Jack, but halfway through the series everyone is excited to see Jack and asks him to take care of their money problems? Also why can't Joker; who supposedly was such an amazing thief - as a high school kid mind you - his name still lives in infamy even after he disappeared in prison for years, can't seem to keep a heist together to save his life? It's not even that someone on the team fucks up, HE bungles it every time. Don't even get me started on the adoptive son/arranged marriage garbage we've been having to endure. This was such a missed opportunity with Yin and War leading. They could have done such amazing things with the premise. I keep imagining how good it would have been if Joker was an incredible thief with his own calling card who we get to watch successfully thwart and steal from oligarchs like the 4 Horseman to help the people under their thumb and they assign a jaded, now teetering on the morally grey scale, Jack to the job of finding and eliminating him for his freedom. Joker hates Jack for being what he sees as a cog upholding a corrupt system - not realizing a heist he pulled off ruined his life - and Jack hates Joke for being the catalyst for him losing everything. Add to that they're insanely attracted to each other while equally trying to bring the other down? That's an enemies-to-lovers trope I want to actually see play out damn it. Worse we've spent almost the entire series practically watching them play as platonic friends together. This is a pairing that has explosive romantic chemistry just standing in the same room together and they've managed to ruin it. As much as I love Yin and War, they couldn't save this for me. I'm actually kind of angry on their behalf. I was excited when we got the pilot, I was worried when we got the actual teaser, and now I just feel like I'm watching a trainwreck happen in real-time.
I just realized JoongDunk are so popular in Thailand! Their BookExpo2024 Tag is the only one to enter Top3 in…
JD are one of the most popular and lucrative pairings GMMTV have. People don't want to hear it but it's a fact. Both of them are hugely in demand, Dunk has become like man of the year he's bagged so many brand deals. I've been happy to see them be so successful both together and apart, they've worked incredibly hard. Dunk especially has really come into his own once he finished school and decided to put his all into his career. People treat him like shit without giving him the grace most rookie actors are afforded to grow and improve. He was excellent in Summer Night so I'm excited to see him bring Style to life, I already have a feeling he's going to be a hugely beloved character. I suspect THK is going to be THE series for them. You can tell they've both really enjoyed the whole process.
So. Good!!! It has me feeling every emotion. This past episode especially...I'm sorry but I loved the bridge scene, it was so them. The acting is superb, the chemistry is off the wall, the comedy is sharp and witty with that quintessential Japanese slapstick that isn't easy to pull off, and the storyline and writing is great. Everything about this series has been a rare wonderful mix of the unexpected, quirky, off-kilter, ridiculous, hilarious, but also somehow wholesome and feel good? Ryo as this awkward almost painfully introverted anti-social, anti-romantic hero with a killer wardrobe and big brain is everything I didn't know I needed in a lead. With Haruto as his complete complement but opposite in almost every way except for his equally sharp brain (a fluffy bunny with teeth lol) leading him around by the nose is A+ characterization. The casting of these two was also wholly excellent, they embody their characters so well. Definitely my favorite series airing right now. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer!
Does Anyone know if they started or finished filming yet?
They haven't started filming yet, I don't think they've even started workshops for this yet. From what I think I remember hearing, Aof said in an interview that this isn't going to release until next year because they want to be careful and do it justice, so I'd recommend patience lol.
may I ask where u read the novel if they is an English translation
Of course! The author Cali has both the OG and and English version of the novel on lunarwrite and meb. I chose to download my copy from meb and read on their app. I really recommend it, it was very good.
I just finished reading the novel and I'm even more excited for this, I couldn't put it down. It was fun re-watching the pilot and certain scenes making a new kind of sense. They definitely changed some things around (like they author warned) so it makes me curious to see how they're going to go about the story progression. Not that it's bad in any way but definitely different, so I'm wondering if that was just so they could get as much of the initial introduction of the characters in the pilot as possible or if they'll really go that route with how they pace the series. I also now understand the novel's fans curiosity/hesitance over how they're going to portray certain scenes, it could have the potential to be really amazing or go really wrong. I'm going to hold my breath and trust that DMD and Aof will do a good job, if only because they have a lot riding on this (the backlash would be horrendous if they drop the ball) and they literally have everything going for them: great story/writing, good production budget (apparently), talented cast...please do this justice, I beg.
I'm so excited for this! KengPing and TleFirst are my favorite CPs of DMD's 3rd Gen (TleFirst have actually shot up as one of my top comfort pairings of all time) so I'm really looking forward to seeing the four of them in a series together. My only concern now is the hope that DMD really put it all on the line with both production AND script writing. They've been doing marginally better lately, but could still improve. Crossing my fingers they get it right with this one, I'm already really vibing what I've read about the novel itself.
do you guys think the fanwars between firstkhao fans x joongdunk fans will be worse than the fanwars that happened…
No, I think FirstKhao fans are going to be toxic assholes and spend from now until the end of the show acting superior and dragging JD through the mud for them DARING to act in a show with First and Khao, even if it was an opportunity they were chosen for, as you can see from the comments on here already and on social platforms. JD fans are just happy to see them together in another series and looking forward to them getting the chance to act in something different and more challenging.
Kinda rude to imply there's something "wrong" with his face. I don't keep up to date with him anymore, but at…
Thank you so much for saying this. People treat famous individuals like they're specimens on a petri dish open for poking and prodding, not actual people who live real lives like the rest of us.
Okay, I have to say it. What's wrong with Singto's face? Is he sick? Is this weight gain or moon face? I feel…
Actually what's rude is speculating about someone's health when they haven't revealed anything to be wrong. Not only is it literally none of your business, if you are someone who has been chronically ill (like myself) it's completely tactless and you should know better. You don't know how someone might be dealing with their situation (how new it is, what the prognosis is, how much it affects their daily lives). I get actors put themselves in the limelight as their job but that doesn't mean every aspect of their lives is up for speculation, debate, and dissection my God. Also, I'll point out how horrible it would be to see someone going around questioning what's wrong with your face of all things ill or not, tf.
Imagine my huge shock (in a good way ofc) like most(?) of you when I saw that Krist and Singto will have a new…
They've actually remained friends after all these years, even though they hit a rough patch and Singto just came back to GMMTV, they announced his return not very long ago. This series is actually an original storyline that is based on their lives, which is why you might see some parallels to what has happened to them in real life and what happens to the characters in the show.
So excited to see Krist and Singto back together again for a new project. They've both grown so much since Sotus, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what they bring together in this.
I am SO excited for this, to finally see a full femme gay character in a lead role in what looks like a great production...it should have happened by now 10x over but I hope this kickstarts what I want to see more of in this industry.
There have been some great plots teased for BL this year, it's so exciting to see. As someone who has been watching Thai BL since it's early beginnings way back in 2013/14 the variety of stories being told alone is incredible and so heartening.
I loved 10 things I hate about you (it hat a really nice soundtrack)! The play is IMO to misogynistic (I know…
Totally understandable, and even here in the U.S. where we do have his works commonly in schools, you rarely really dive into deep analysis unless you're taking literature courses at University haha schools just cover him because he's part of the classics, we honestly have terrible educational systems for the most part so it's kind of a crime that his work isn't more extensively dissected in schools here since he's a part of the curriculum anyway. And really Shakespeare isn't for everyone either LOL
You should stick for the ride. Probably pretentiousness and entitlement will be around for the first few episodes.…
I don't know, I've learned it's not worth the buzzkill. I come in happy and excited to talk about a latest episode and leave feeling either depressed, pissed off, or irritated which completely defeats the purpose of why I got into watching BL in the first place haha.
Here is the direct link to the novel on lunarwrite (the meb link is included in the description as well): https://www.lunarwrite.com/a/47aea24ee4f77d9109518129a3d9c222
