Very cute nostalgic high school slice of life with a much nicer ML than most pre-2016 dramas and some positive LGBTQ inclusion. But the love triangle is deeply weird and because it's a Reply drama the SML is in it to win it until the very end. Only watch if you don't mind big age gaps and student-teacher relationships with even more surprise red flags later.
A good time slip romance but everyone outside of ML and FL was awful (just stereotypes or plot devices) and they never improve. Even ML and FL don't really do any growing or changing, they're both basically perfect from the start which makes them easy to root for but boring. If you want a fun, fast action-adventure story with all external obstacles and a cute romance go for it but if you like Kdramas with strong character arcs or good ensemble casts I wouldn't recommend it.
I keep trying to get into this one but ML acts way too immature even for 18-19 and I honestly can't understand why FL would ever consider him a serious romantic partner. That combined with the student/coach issue makes the dynamic uncomfortable: he's obviously still a kid and she's an adult responsible for him. Not exactly the stuff of heart fluttering noona romance, just mildly ick.
ETA: And dropped at 12/26. ML needs a babysitter not a coach and FL isn't qualified to be either. I know plot isn't usually Cdrama's strength but come on, this is soap opera territory.
First half of this drama reminds me of Call It Love, even though the plot is not the same. It is difficult to…
I recently watched (and loved) I Hear Your Voice and Come and Hug Me is on my list so you got me curious about how obvious the copied ending was. You're right, it's REALLY obvious. Not gonna bother with this one if it blatantly steals from another drama, that's a sure sign of a bad writer. Thanks for the review!
What happens to In Ha's inhuman evil b*tch mother at the end. please tell me she either goes to prison or dies.…
SML's mom is the one who ends up in jail after ML easily tricks her into incriminating herself even though she's the mastermind. ML drops the charges against FL's mom because he got an "apology" that was just a bow.
IMO it was unsatisfying, kinda dumb and totally unbelievable. One of the most anti-climatic drama endings I've seen so far.
I love Yoo An In.I have not watched is yet.Is it worth my time ?Only one series of his I was upset about called…
1 The first four episodes are all over the place and dump every trope in the book on you but it gets better after that and the second half is amazing. 2. Yoo Ah In was so into it I found FL and SML flat in comparison. TML was just okay. 3. You won't be disappointed by the ending.
Watched the first episode and it's cute! I love the women's issues take on how hard widows had it in Joseon... but every time ML says his name I keep hearing "Park Suha" instead of "Park Suho", it's making me want to rewatch I Hear Your Voice like crazy.
If this doesn't turn out to be a noona romance that's what I'm going to do.
This is one of those dramas that I think 90% of people like because of the skinship instead of the story. ML lied to and manipulated the FL (who he supposedly loves) for a couple episodes only for him to act like an immature tit when it blew up in his face. And after that FL lets him move in with her no problem? It felt so emotionally inauthentic that I lost interest then and there.
I watched a bit more to see if it would redeem itself but if anything the characters just devolved. I don't agree with the comments that say FL doesn't deserve ML, they absolutely deserve each other but I'm not sticking around to watch it happen. This is trashy romance novel quality writing.
I'm 99% certain the people who praise the chemistry in this one are blinded by their love for PSJ. Both leads over or under act without hitting the authenticity sweet spot and the relationship circumstances are way less believable than the standard meet cute romcom. I'm a fan of noona romances but this felt flimsy from the start - more love bomb than romcom - and never got better.
Then as soon as the love triangle appears the leads do a total 180 - FL from self assured to wishy-washy and ML from supportive to immature man child. If a story presents one thing then expects a viewer to accept something different with no build up just to inject drama it's frankly not a good story. Don't even get me started on SML, who's a romance road block instead of a 3D character.
The plot isn't anything special either - just lies, misunderstandings and miscommunications with some background office drama - so once the romance stalls there's no point sticking around. In retrospect I should have listened to all the comments telling people to skip episodes 8-12 but again: if you have to skip 1/3 of a drama to enjoy a drama it's not a good drama.
I love stories with cooking, supernatural powers or small town mysteries so I thought this would be an instant hit for me. But there are so many off-putting things about this drama that I only made it four episodes before I noped out.
1. Non-stop crying FL who has zero survival instincts. 2. Equally hysterical mum who's always hitting or yelling at her. 3. ML thinks there's a chance FL is his lost sister. 4. The production quality looks worse than most pre-2018 dramas that I've seen. 5. Weird romantic chemistry. They don't seem to like each other they're just emotionally dependent on each other for different reasons which doesn't really sell the relationship.
I'm still curious about what actually happened to the sister, but 16 episodes is way too much time to invest in a half hearted romance with annoying character dynamics. And judging by the other negative comments the payoff isn't that great anyway.
The story is about all the characters not just ML. SML and SFL aren't just love interests or comic relief like…
Me too, she's amazing! She's fierce and flawed so different from other FLs, I love how she stands up for and takes care of ML. And yeah, she's all in from episode 3-4 even if she doesn't realize it yet. ♡
ok so I started this reached episode 12 I wanna know is Lee Jong suk the ML here ?! or that attorney cha. Wtf…
The story is about all the characters not just ML. SML and SFL aren't just love interests or comic relief like some dramas, they have their own character arcs. Give them and FL some time to shine, it's her turn to protect ML and she has things to work through in her relationships with SML and SFL. Lee Bo Young did an amazing job with the role.
Alright, need help. I have tried to watch this drama for around 3 - 4 times. Like REALLY TRIED. But the last episode…
Bro, I'm the wrong person to ask - I dropped it too because FL's character and the romance dynamic didn't work for me. So my advice is instead of forcing yourself to watch something you don't like, watch something you do like.
I was hesitant to watch Healer because I always check the currently watching and dropped ratings for older dramas to get a feel for how well they've aged and it has some polarizing numbers: 7.85/10 for current and 5.25/10 for dropped. But I figured I'd give a shot because of its popularity.
It wasn't a total bust I wasn't wowed either. There's a good story in here somewhere but it feels too much like a Kdrama knockoff of a Marvel franchise: OP parkour secret super hero ML and quirky cutesy sidekick FL team up to take down a cabal of corrupt old rich dudes involved in a far fetched conspiracy. I grew up with that tropey comic book format and this brought nothing new to the table for me except the historical context, which I was more interested in than the romance.
Eventually I dropped it because even positive reviews agree the ending is haphazard and unsatisfying and 20 episodes is way too much time to spend for that kind of pay off.
This is so shallow compared to the Kdrama version it's ridiculous. They changed so many important aspects of how the characters relate to each other and grow, like:
1. SML is FL's mansplaining boss instead of her naive coworker. 2. SFL is completely nerfed instead of being FL's powerful rival. 3. ML is a law student which means he also mansplains instead of supporting FL. 4. FL is almost unrecognizable as the fierce, flawed FL portrayed by Lee Bo Young. Here she's a girly airhead always being guided by one of the MLs instead of running the show.
If you want an epic love story with two strong FLs and a meaningful plot, go for the original I Hear Your Voice. If you want candy floss with a heaping does of patriarchy, watch this.
9/10 because the early episodes are so mid compared to everything else. Hard to find but worth it. There's a lot of reincarnation stories in Kdrama but the writing, characters and cinematography here complement each other perfectly. Older style dramas that have a complex main story instead of lots of side stories or sitcom style romcoms are so much more fulfilling to watch because everything comes together perfectly in the end.
Content Warning: Non-graphic animal cruelty. It's on the part of the villain but it's a continuing thing during the show because FL is a veternarian and that's how they meet.

Rookie Historian is another historical noona romance with a clever, independent FL.
If this doesn't turn out to be a noona romance that's what I'm going to do.
