I said the exact same things you said and did also mention that I loved Semantic Error meanwhile I don't like…
I fully agree.

It really is that same "K-pop" stand ideology that because you don't like a certain drama, you get hunted down by the stans just because they enjoyed it or rather, had forced themselves to like something that is very objectively awful.

There's a lot of new dramas that I found awful or just not rising to my expectations like KinnePorche for example and I know if you mention a bad thing about it, you'd get hounded because "How dare you say something bad about this show >:(".
They defend actors like their biases and act like everything they get put in is perfect and the extent they go to is unbelievable and definitely way too far.

The point of this website is to share opinions on dramas yet the second you share an opinion that's not overly positive suddenly you get hounded. Which is a reason as to why I no longer believe in the reviews on the page.

"smut or KP or gay porn..." lol, yeah right, we all come to BL land to watch explicit sex when the Internet is…
My point is that this is a low budget KBL with a VERY short run time which is what explains these awkward janky scenes. Even Thai Bls with short run times have got criticism for it because a SHORT run time or lack of episodes drastically influences how a plot flows and generally the quality of the drama.

To me, the kiss didn't ruin the drama, it was an episode 4 kiss, passion isn't expected and there are still restrictions for Korean dramas and what producers might accept. In my opinion, the characters themselves are quite likeable/understandable and the comedy flows nicely with the plot which itself also moves quite quickly and doesn't treat the audience as morons.

Now that episode 6 has been released, I can say that now the drama is starting to flop because they're adding tropes too late to an already short episodic run time which is lowering the quality. Which is a severe writing issue. Previous to episode 6, I found the drama to have good potential as a soft drama, because the plot is enjoyable despite the awkward scenes. But episode 6 is an episode filled with nothing really and just a build up to an unsatisfactory trope.

So I'm not covering up the failures. I'm waiting for failures worth writing about over some kiss scene. The biggest failure is becoming writing, short run time and not enough episodes. Which is what Korean Bls need to get better at. If a KBL ran like a normal KDrama, we could have more complex and interest plots, rather than sitting and waiting for what in normal drama runtime is 4 episodes.

You should read the Manhwa if you really want to see what both of them are feeling. Manhwa is 4 season, so don't…
I only compared them because they were releasing at the same time. Semantic Error is different. I just think that CBAW was just disappointing and boring and I think it goes down to the execution in portraying the characters. I generally like coming of life plots and more soft content, so I was disappointing how lack-luster it felt. I will definitely check out the manhwa once I gain interest in this series again!

I don't know why they would complain about the kiss when it was only ep 4 and the first kiss for the couple. Given…
Personally, I am not fond of J-BL's because of the over-the-top acting in the first place although I have seen a few and I agree. Many J-Bls have awkward and far worse kisses if any at all.

Plus this first kiss wasn't really supposed to be this big scene since it was just a catalyst for Seon-Ho discovering his sexuality and feelings towards Mo-Yeong. They're 15minute episodes, so we can't expect fleshed out scenes or some dramatic long kiss like in dramas that have a longer time span per episode.

"smut or KP or gay porn..." lol, yeah right, we all come to BL land to watch explicit sex when the Internet is…
It really doesn't. If you're really focused only on a kiss it shows that's all you care about. Yes I didn't like the kiss but that doesn't mean I really want to bash the entire series for it... A lot of dramas have those awkward kiss scenes, or unrealistic scenarios. Honestly, this was the least cringy expression of unrealistic scenarios I've seen in a while.

I'm not making an excuse, it's just a fact that Korean BL's tend to not have as good kiss scenes as other LGBTQ+ dramas because they're fairly knew. The kiss could have been better but it's clear the production for this drama wasn't very high in the first place.

I enjoy the characters and how realistically sexuality is portrayed in terms of Seon-Ho finding out he is Bisexual. This is also a COMEDY genre, so we can't really expect a fully serious path of events.

Fr fr. I'm too scared to comment on some of the top dramas that I didn't like because some people act like I've murdered their uncle or something.

Exactly! If someone likes it, they like it. Personally I found the execution very boring and just... not functional for something to watch.

“Semantic error is 100x more better.” Honestly, move on.
I'm allowed to have an opinion. It was much better, the chemistry and overall movement of the plot was simply better executed.

I compared it to Semantic Error because it was released around the same time. They're very different in the story, of course because the characters are in different stages of life.

I was simply analysing the quality of the drama and plot because it was flat and hard for me to watch. I might read the Manhwa if I ever regain any interest in this :)

Some of you are being overly critical of this drama. If you want to watch smut just watch KinnePorche or gay porn...

Korean BL's are not as well funded as Thai BL's because they're still FAIRLY new and are just now fully gaining traction. Thai BLs weren't always as good as they are now either, it takes time and support for this genre to actually get funding and better actors.

Besides, the drama's concept is comedic and some of you are taking it too seriously. Yes the kiss was awkward and terrible filmed but it doesn't impact the overall quality of the drama. It's still enjoyable and comedic, it flows quite nicely considering A) it's run time and B) the amount of episodes we get in total. The characters are likeable and it's a fun watch. The way Seon-Ho discovers his sexuality is quite natural and normal and his struggles with confessing his emotions to Mu-Yeong are quite expected from an author who hasn't had much romantic interactions in over 3+yrs and his most recent one is unexpectedly with a man.

I'd say the drama is worth watching, it's a good fluff drama with some more 'mature' themes as much as Korea's standard goes.

Honestly, this series is boring as hell. By the title, reading the synopses and seeing some clips I thought it was going to be a really good series. To put it bluntly, I've never been more disappointed in a drama till I watched this one. Nothing happens in each episode apart from an exception of 3mins PER EPISODE. Episode 1 was boring. Episode 2 was even more boring but it honed in how little chemistry the MLs have. The lack of interaction between the two apart from the most awkward "conversations" make the progression to a relationship very hard to believe. Tae-Sung being popular you'd expect him to have more of a personality yet he doesn't he's just a walking surface level trope. I say surface level because he feels like an undeveloped character who was formatted out of just notes. His friends are more interesting. Hae-Bom is also incredibly boring, though I blame it on Tae-Sung's lack of presence. This series is not worth waiting for episode wise. A week for a 23 minute episode that atp is guaranteed to be boring is a waste of time. Semantic Error is 100x more better.

Well, this drama is boring as hell. Both leads are bland and they have zero chemistry, the plot is bland, I hate…
Semantic Error has good acting, directing and an actual plot. It uses its time well. This series though, can't compare it's dreadful.
On Oh! Boarding House Mar 4, 2022
This drama is just pure awkwardness and quite difficult to watch at times. The interactions between the ML and the PE Teacher are too awkward to even be comedy & if they're going to end up together, then I sincerely pray for this series to fix itself. It got some good, funny scenes but it's quite boring.
