cool! if you were referring to the effects, I'm with you on that " I have a rasing eye here" lol:) Because lord those sound effects at this point please hire me lol .
For your rating for the music did you give it a 2.0 because of the effects in the film or the soundtrack. I will say as a Film Maker/ Film student yes that sound effects are not good but the soundtrack I would say and is utilized pretty well in scenes. :)
Thank you for the response! Wow, you're a film student and I can feel that from your response. You clearly have…
Yes! So, this is just my opinion every film maker is going to have their own opinion on what they liked or what they didn't like. For me I am going to talk from a film perspective and audience perspective (we don't want to confuse the two). When I watch films I watch them from a film maker perspective and then I watch it from the audience. Most of the time when I watch it from an audience perspective like most people do, I realized I don't catch things I do when I watch it from a film perspective. I want to talk about from the opening too the last episode. I won't go through every episode, but I will firstly answer your question.
Acting- So in my opinion I think all the cast did an amazing job with portraying their character. Lot of people might not know this but acting as a character from a book, manga, cartoon, historical figure is actually quite difficult. I don't know how the actors go about learning about their character. Some actors will read some of the book sometimes the script will have a clear description of who the character is or sometimes the script won't and you as an actor have to figure it out. (This is in traditional sense.) I am not Frank, nor Hearth to tell you how they learn their script but that is an overview of how they can learn their character but there are many ways they can learn about who they are acting as.
Also, I like giving first time actors the benefit of the doubt. I know that in Thai BL they have acting workshop where the character(couples) gets together and get comfortable with one another and (yaddy yaddy ya) So I like giving these actors benefit of the doubt some of them might been in one or two films or maybe more, but it doesn't matter. Every day as an actor you are growing and improving and if they feel they are growing, and others can see they are growing then that's all that matter. true or real acting should look like.
I feel for the ones who say they can't act might fall into two categories. Those who read the book and those who didn't read the book. When we read the book, we might have a high expectation for how that character will look, act, walk, speak and etc. When that character isn't acting in the way we hoped it can make us feel like that character or actor might not fit the part or they just can't act at all. And for those who didn't read the book and is looking at it for first time. It can be many reasons they think they can't act, maybe they feel they was. have no emotion or too expressive or they ugly or maybe they compare that. person with someone else who they think should be that character, you know. it's subjective and how they feel, so it's all on that person and how they think. (Whole time they at home or in class watching it and the actor is on the big screen lol)
I do agree on how some scenes might look forced but as an actor well you "act" and if the director feel you can do more, they will tell you. Sometimes the director will physically show you what they want, or they might just say what to do. It is up to the actor to interoperate how the action is to be done. If it is a fight scene then it is the choreographer, stunt coordinator the director and the actor of course to work together to produce the action.
Theme- Yes! I do agree that this Thai BL had a unique storyline and agenda. I think films such as this can be difficult for others to watch for variety of reason. For example: They might not be interested in seeing others in toxic and crazy ass predicaments because it is bad. Or they can have something internally that makes them unconformable to watch this show. For example: I told my friend about this show, and he hated it because. He himself was in an abusive relationship for many months and although this show is fiction it stems from a real-life issue that happens to people in the real world. For example: Abuse and other toxic issues. So, if that person themselves have faced or someone they know might of faced similar issue or just abuse it can trigger emotions in oneself.
What film is supposed to is inflict emotion on the audience and make you feel happy or sad or pain for the character. Or sometimes film can make us relate with that character or characters. And a film as heavy as this I think some people might not like it due to the emotions that it inflicts on them (It is all psychological) And in my opinion if I give props to Frank, Hearth, Longlee and Non characters specially. Mainly because they play such well (Hearth and Longlee) play such crazy ass psychopathic people and (Non and Frank) play characters that are victims to Nan and Day shit. So I really give props to them. (And for those who say they want Nan and Mac into a show I hope they do the second book no spoilers lol)
And like I said before watching a film as a film maker whoooo can be hard. lol Because I absolutely HATE episode 5 club scene. The lighting is in a gray hue and who knew Nan was wearing a gold ring and beautiful make up. Who knew that Mac had such beautiful peach make up.) Just saying. That lighting is TERRIBLE-sorry director but whooo that please noooo plus there is a blob next to Mac and Nan when they are kissing due to the light that is reflecting off on the camera. lol The Uncut club whoo beautiful lighting beautiful sound whooo I can say a lot of positive thinks about that one when it comes to production and this one:)
I will say I didn't watch it on WeTv but I think they should have put a censorship at the beginning to give people who know nothing about the book to let them know what they are getting into.
And lastly looking at a film from an audience perspective I don't really notice things such as lighting and sound unless the sound is too loud, and it pop out nowhere. Like sometimes sound would pop out of nowhere or repeating the same music when watching this it annoyed me. But I liked it...I love film and I love watching all kinds of film even the terrible ones but that's just me being a film kid lol.
I hope I answered all your question if you have any more, please ask and if others have other comments feel free i like discussing film in a constructive and kind manner. -If you have nothing constructive or civil to say please log off. Thank you . :)
Yes! I agree that we shouldn't use the opinion /reviews of others when it comes to films to justify our opinion of that particular film. I think in my "opinion " we should use reviews as a guide to inform us on how others felt of that film not to completely decide our belief on that film) As a film maker(film student). I have watched this show over and over and over again. (Like I do with almost every film) lol.I like to analyze films and of course not everyone is gonna do that(which make sense)I do like the way you made your review instead of just bashing and giving such a harsh and balmily negative response you gave very constructive and informative response, in which I think a lot of people don't do(so good job to you). Giving back constructive criticism gives the director/producers and idea on what they can do better in the future. I have my opinion on this show but if I write mine it might be a 10 page paper lol so I'll stick to response to people ,I think it's good to have a debate with one another in a civil and constructive way.
