It's not that romance of that sorts, in a whole 45 mins ep, it comes 5-6 mins most. He is young and not a heartless person. And there needs to be established relationship between these 2 characters. We legit dk what's the equation between them, remember she is a dongxia princess, she would not simply marry and settle here. She is a crucial character, as I feel she is going to help ZH in multiple ways in future and for that they need to establish the setup and trust. Else why would you help someone you just met :)

The benefactor of ZH is a powerful guy who is linked with emperor ig or the other prince. Imagine the power the kingdom will hold if they get the seal. But they dk where it is and only person who can find s ZH. So they need to keep him on track, he took him to his house so that he remember his purpose, what if he falls in love and just turn the path. They would need him to find the artifact asap :)

That's what makes this drama more interesting and human like. All the characters are grey and has depth. No one is just good or bad, everyone is acting with each other. This is same too in our world, somehow everyone uses everyone and every opportunity to get what we need. This makes the drama feel thrilling and make you wait eagerly for each eps
