i do just want to say that Kenji Chen is absolutely great in this - he acts the role of Qian Ye (Maeno) to an absolute T the walk and the facial expressions are perfect by far and away the best performance in this drama
the virgin Ye Qi vs the chad Nozaki Umetarou Ye Qi: broke bullies small children for sport touches people’s hair without their permission steals people’s phones has no muscle
Nozaki Umetarou: has lots of money likes children respects stranger’s personal space does not steal people’s phones has muscle
considering that 1. this is an adaptation of a japanese manga 2. the source material is quite well liked
it makes sense to me why iqiyi is reluctant to promote this too much - they're trying to avoid getting any unnecessary attention from the government or from die hard fans of the original who won't accept the adaptation no matter what
finally got round to watching this after seeing the first 4 eps, I’d say it’s decent so far as an adaptation
shen yue is very cute as qian dai, and i’m enjoying the depictions of the side characters (especially jie yue, love seeing her smacking people with the ball), and the bits lifted from the manga are faithfully adapted and enjoyable to watch
That being said, I do think comedic timing and some production stuff could probably be polished up a bit, and some plot decisions are a bit ??? from my perspective (like qian dai being a secret hater of ye qi’s comics, she adored them in the og - just kinda seems like a forced way to stir up drama) - qian dai is also a little bit different from the original character, she’s a bit more fragile I feel in this show
But i’d say it’s been a mostly fun watch so far, especially with friends :)
They have Chinese names in this drama so can you tell me what's the role of mikorin in the manga??
as a manga reader, he’s never felt like a 2nd male lead to me - he tends to get the same amount of screen time as the rest of the supporting main cast of course the drama could change this - which I have mixed feelings about tbh
one minute i’m having a blast, the next i’m fuming lmao
honestly not sure what to rate this lol
the walk and the facial expressions are perfect
by far and away the best performance in this drama
Ye Qi:
broke
bullies small children for sport
touches people’s hair without their permission
steals people’s phones
has no muscle
Nozaki Umetarou:
has lots of money
likes children
respects stranger’s personal space
does not steal people’s phones
has muscle
in conclusion: stan Nozaki kun

everyone in this show is stupid, that’s it’s defining trait lmao
since july last year
trust me the entire nozaki kun fandom online is tuning into this thing 😎
pics or it didn’t happen lol
Ryousuke doesn’t appear to be in the drama, so no ryousuke x miyako unfortunately 😔
of course the drama could change this - which I have mixed feelings about tbh
i’m curious as to what prompted this hori to wear it though….👀
