Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
i think thier ill-fate relation has somthing to do with thier children cause we have that flash back of them hugging…
bulgasal hawl and sang un did not have kids. There was only one flash back with sang un looking at the two human kids. They are not the bulgasal’s kids.

The anonymous poster below who is trying to push his/her political agenda is clearly unhinged and whatever he/she says untrustworthy. This is obviously not a forum for political discussion. This person strikes me as a member of the far right Falun Gong cult who are anti-science, anti-LGBT, anti-mixed race marriage and who constantly spread unsubstantiated rumors on popular media such as youtube, facebook, against China and the Chinese people. Ignore that person at all cost.

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
If I sum up, correct me if I am wrong-Hwal and SangUn are original bulgasals-Hwal and SnagUn are lovers-Hwal as…
Eul Tae can’t kill sang uns eighth reincarnation due to some sort of thing the dead twin sister put on Eul Tae. If he kills sang in he will be gravely hurt too. So he wants hawl to do the deed.

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
I thought for a moment the baby his wife is carrying is his human reincarnation LOL
Maybe the little girl in the cave is Siho and the baby she is holding is Dooyon. Notice how she was kind of scared of Bulgasal Hawl when she first saw him. Reminded me of Siho’s scared reaction when she first saw Hawl at the laundry place. Or maybe ok Eul tae’s brother is dooyon, notice how ok kind of smashed his face. Who knows, at the point we need a freakin family tree.

Title Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Spoiler
Such an eventful episode! Ep 14 seems to be an eventful one too. Everything Eul Tae says is more twisted, he wanted…
I only believe you now, lol, you are the real bulgasal. You should bitch slap all three of them lol. Clearly Hawl and Sang Un were a pair of bulgasals, and like all couples, they ran into some issues. Ok Eul Tae prob saw his chance and drove a wedge between the two so that he could be a bulgasal. Why can't SU just tell Hawl that he was a bulgasal to begin with, argh, so frustrating.

I love the romance between Hawl and Sang Un. Here is what the writer has told us about their relationship so far.

We know from the earlier episodes that they had an innate connection. Notice how they were always presented as a pair 600 years ago. The scene with them standing with a bloody battle in between, the scene with them meeting on a hill top, and finally of them killing each other, they were always positioned as a pair, even the color palette of their clothing, sapphire blue and deep red. Lady Bulgasal's expression is of love, sadness and longing. Hawl did not know who she was then, but it was evident that he was mesmerized by her. In their first meeting after 600 years, she touches his face, and romantic images of Sang Un flashed before Hawl, making it clear that their connection was a romantic one.

After their meeting in present time, Hawl goes through an internal battle of heart and mind. He has an innate attraction to Sang Un in his heart, but his mind tells him she killed his family and is his enemy. To Hawl, Sang Un is both a source of danger and a source of desire and he struggled to reconcile the two. But after he got to know Sang Un, he realized she is a kind, loving and selfless person. Slowly, Hawl's love for the present day Sang Un triumphed over his hatred for the 600 years ago Sang Un.

Once Hawl confirms Sang Un is innocent of the killings, he becomes an adorkable bulgasal ahjusshi. Notice before ep 11, Hawl did not care about his looks, his clothing was always kind of shabby chic. After Sang Un poured her heart out to him after his epic battle with Ok Eul Tae, he knew Sang Un reciprocated his feelings. And guess what, the next day, he dresses like he is ready to go on a date 😊 He even cooks ramen for Sang Un. Typical behavior of a guy in love. Some people complain they are awkward. Well, they are both outcasts. Sang Un has been on the run for 15 years, has never had a relationship. And Hawl, he hasn't had any action for 600 years lol. Of course they are going to be like awkward teenagers in love for the first time. But more importantly, they both know as things stand now, their love has no future, one is bulgasal, one human, they don’t know the full history of their relationship and there is ever present danger. They don’t even know if they will survive the next day. It's like the last scene of Ep 12, one minute they are chatting intimately just like any other couple, the next minute, things turn downright terrifying.

Am I the only one that doesn't give a shit about the romance between Dan Hwal and Min Sang Un? Usually I'm all…
The main point is their love from 1000 years ago. I love the romance. I find them adorkable lol.

It is now crystal clear that Bulgasal is the story of a pair of mythical creatures who were deeply in love with each other. However, they were separated by a force of evil. Now a thousand years later, we will see if they can over come this force of evil and find each other again.

And can we give a round of applause to the cinematographer and editor? The last scene between SU and Hawl was so intense, you feel like you were there with them.

Loved today's episode..Sangwoon finally realized she fell for Hwal..😍😍😍 While he is still clueless..They…
I think Hawl is very much aware of his feelings for Sangwoon. He indirectly professed his love for Sangwoon before he left to battle Ok Eul Tae.

The lady bulgasal in red, Kim Hwa Yeon, Sang Yeon and Sang Un are all different facets of the same person. They need to be viewed as a whole to understand Kwon Nara’s character.

Many have complained that Sang Un is too nice, too sweet, etc. I agree if Sang Un is viewed in isolation, she would seem almost bizarrely sweet. But if you look at Kwon Nara’s various characters against the grand theme of love v. hatred, rage v. forgiveness, you will realize that Sang Un is the only one with the qualities that can break the bulgasal curse. What is the curse then, it is this yet to be revealed event 1000 years ago that caused Sang Un and Hawl to be swept in an unending chain of revenge, distrust and anger. The writer split Sang Yeon and Sang Un in two, one with all the rage, grittiness, intensity and the other softness, sweetness and innocence. Sang Yeon’s personality will likely just add fuel to this curse, whereas Sang Un’s is the secret potion that can end the curse. Now If you look at Kim Hwa Yeon (the twins’ previous life), Hwa Yeon was driven to madness from the rage that was inside, writing and muttering endlessly, kill the bulgasal. Hwa Yeon could not break the curse in any way. So she is split into twins in the next life, with all the best human qualities embodied in Sang Un to counter the curse. Well, at least that is my interpretation based on the episodes so far 😊

With Bulgasal, if you focus too much on the nitty gritty, and take it as a typical kdrama romance, you may miss out on the grander story arc and themes that the writer is intricately weaving.

Many people seem to think the romance between Hawl and Sang Un is forced. I disagree. The foundation of their feelings for each other is very clear, two deeply wounded people finding warmth and solace in each other.

My favorite scene in ep 10 is when Hawl emerges out of a field of tall feathery grass after he killed the lady secretary’s monster hubby. Hawl is in full monster mode, bloody, wounded and grotesque. Instead of going up to SU, he walks to a corner with his body turned against her. He is self-conscious and insecure, didn’t want SU to see him in that state. SU, however, walks up to Hawl, pulls him close to her, to check on his wound. Even though he tells her she doesn’t have to be close to him, she protests that he needs to be cared for. Through her action, SU is telling him, I accept you and care for you, grotesque monster and all. For a man who has been rejected by his community and family in the worst possible ways, it must have warmed his heart to be accepted and cared for even in his most vulnerable state. The scene evoked a natural sense of intimacy showing two people making deep emotional connections. Why wouldn’t Hawl fall in love with SU? It would be damned forced if he didn’t fall in love with SU.

Same goes to SW don't you think, even if they were lovers 1000 years ago but she is not the same person right…
Ok Eul Tae where are you? We need you to make Hawl happy lol. Don’t give up on HawlSol, you never know. It’s kdrama, anything can happen.

Hawl is falling in love with the present day SW. If Hawl and SW had a romantic past, he does not remember it. So his feelings for SW is not based on his feelings for a past version of SW. He fell for the 2022 SW. That’s the difference between SW and Si Ho.

At least that’s my interpretation. Who knows where the writer is taking us.
On Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Jan 15, 2022
Even if Hawl still has romantic feelings for Sol, even if Si Ho was not pregnant, a romance line between Hawl and Si Ho would be very odd because Si Ho is not Sol. Sol died 600 years ago. They are two different people. Hawl is very much aware of that. Si Ho seems much younger than Hawl, she hangs out with Doyoon, she is slightly punky, a little immature, has been sheltered by her sister. She bickers with Doyoon over who cleans the toilet. Do you think Si Ho would be attracted to a bulgasal ahjusshi who still uses flip phones? Do you think Hawl, who has deep emotional wounds and needs, would want to date Si Ho and help her settle fights with Doyoon over who cleans the toilet? Complete mismatch.

To me, Hawl would gravitate to Sung Un like a magnet because SU can give him all the things he has yearned for since childhood - acceptance, being needed and wanted, and a soft, nurturing nature.

Like many, I was kind of annoyed by Kwon Nara’s portrayal. I thought it was flat and too doe-eyed. But after rewatching two scenes between SU and Hawl in ep 8, I changed my mind. I now think SU is very brave and Kwon Nara’s portrayal, although not perfect, still on point.

SU poured her heart out to Hawl after the piggyback ride, when they got caught in the rain. She told him about her dreams of living a normal life. She also asked him about his dreams. Being the single minded avenger he is, Hawl told her he was going to take her life away just to die because he found no pleasure in life. If he is going to take someone’s life away, maybe at least try to live his life to the fullest before dying, right? If I were SU, I would be incensed, it’s like is my life is that cheap to you? Maybe 8 lives ago I did something bad, but that was 8 lives ago, I don’t remember and I am a different person now. But instead SU tried to be understanding and tried to encourage him to find enjoyment in life again, maybe even track down his ex-family, and she apologized to him. Basically SU is the person with the bigger heart here. It has been 600 yrs, people have moved on, reincarnated, with new lives, but Hawl is still living in the past and who still uses flip phones , lol.

Later on, when Hawl returned home after visiting his past life father, SU tried to relay her fears about the shaman lady’s prophecy. SU was scared she just wanted someone to commiserate with but again Hawl shut her down, and vented his 600 year old anger on her.

SU’s doe-eyed, super cheerful demeaner is almost like a coping mechanism to overcome the incredible terror that’s inside so she can at least live a semi normal life. She is attracted to Hawl because she has faith in her late sister’s dying words and because while Hawl has been nasty to her in many ways, even tried to kill her, the memories of him that kept coming back to her are instances when he saved her. She has been so terrified and alone in this journey, she is desperately clinging on to the little warmth and safety she feels when she is with Hawl. But I suspect SU’s innocence will slowly erode as she regains her memory.

Debatable, dude was so shaken up the first time he saw her again that he literally drove himself into a river…
I re-watched the scene with the shaman lady after he drove the car into the river. I must have been distracted previously during the scene since I don't remember it. Now I get what you are saying. His feelings do appear blurry. But it seems he has moved on after 600 years. But hey, I am not the writer, who knows what's gonna happen. So many possible pairings, some bromance between Hawl and Ok Eul Tae wouldn't be bad either lol.

Story is priority, pairing is the least for me. And now I don't mind whoever Hwal ends up. At first, actually…
My OTP is Hawl and Ok Eul Tae. Hehe. They are both bulgasal so perfect!
On Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Jan 13, 2022
There has been a bit of debate over the OTP pairing. Everyone is entitled to their interpretation, perspective and preference. We are all here to exchange viewpoints, and that's what makes it fun right? I hope the last half doesn't disappoint, but I am a bit weary since I've noticed Kdramas tend to start with a bang and end with a whimper... so I am hoping for an all out battle at the end. Hehe.

My take is he was shaken because he has been so racked by guilt for 600 years. For men, there is no greater failure than not being able to protect your family.
