I really wish they could have a heart-to-heart conversation. After Fugui saves him this time, Hongye really needs to stop being so stubborn and just speak his mind. I honestly felt that after what happened in ep 12, deep down, Hongye was starting to miss Fugui and worry about his safety — just like a real dad would.

I couldn’t agree more. Ep 12 is the climax. Ep 13 they are “together”. Thats it. Thats the end of it, anything else is not important. But hey, they produce this drama to make money, so thats why we still have 22 episodes left 😑

Honestly speaking, I don’t know about the native Chinese speakers’ problem, like AvenueX’s, since I don’t understand Mandarin, but maybe MLC just stuck too deep in me—I can’t stand seeing CY’s face with someone else’s voice 😭 Still, the costumes are so pleasing to the eyes, and this kind of tragic love story fits CY perfectly (the sadder, the better 💔). That’s literally the only thing keeping me watching this series.

Avenuex criticized CY’s line delivery in MLC. Even though she said she enjoyed MLC, it only got one gold rating — what a joke. Line delivery has been one of the major points in her reviews, which is why CY didn’t score well in that area. But regardless of that, she’s also human — a fangirl like us. So yeah, sometimes her reviews reflect personal preferences and subjective bias.

Avenuex basically isn’t into CY. Even MLC couldn’t impress her. So don’t expect too much when she reviews CY dramas. Lol

I’m not familiar with the donghua or the anime, so I’m not sure if the names or characters are different. I was talking about Wang Quan Fugui from the drama, since I heard he dies at the end, making it a sad ending. Thanks for explaining it!

I was really surprised that he came back in the last episode. Maybe it's just me, but I felt their romance was a little bit forced. They’re definitely sweet, but I think the romance in Twelve Letters felt more natural than in this drama. Ming Sheng is only one part of QQY’s growth, which is why he wasn't explored much.

There is no kiss scene—only two hugs, and not the romantic kind. There are definitely no intimate scenes in this drama, but the feelings are there, and even you as the audience can sense them. You'll definitely root for them.

They live in a poor neighborhood, so nothing they wear is fancy or stylist. But i think the storyline goes far beyond that, you don’t even have time to think about their costumes, because you’re completely drawn into the story. This drama really has a soul, which is rare. Anyway, avenuex gave this drama a 2,5 gold rating which i think is pretty solid, she basically praised it overall, with only a few minor criticisms like the costume issue i mentioned earlier. If you’re planning to watch it, make sure you’re in a good mood, because it’s a real tearjerker, it’s definitely not the kind of show that lifts your spirits, but it is a worth watch.

I think it suit them. But avenuex thought ML’s costume didn’t suit 1991 setting. But hey, as long as it looks good on them, why not 🤷‍♀️

Thinking it back, if FL didn’t so impulvise that night, the tragedy wouldn’t happen anyway, ML wouldn’t kill anyone. She already break the relationship with his father and why she act like a hero catching a thief? She made a person lost his life only to save her. He lost his youth in prison, carrying shame and murder title for his entirely life. He couldn’t even lift his head straight after that. She told him not to do anything stupid, yet she was the one who led him to make one. Damn. One mistake, they slipped off, their lives completely changed. Forever.
