I wanted to like this...
The awkwardness is the charm of this show. (though it gets too much at times)there are 2 types of awkwardness in this show!
1. genuine 2.manufactured/scripted
the scripted awkwardness was painful to watch.
I really enjoy watching the chef cook, the food shots are looking great.
some of the guests really liked the food and some were faking their reactions.. not that they hated the food but the compliments/reactions felt off to me. (such as ep2, ep3 ,ep11)
+the episodes with Sana and Jisoo were so fun to watch!
the joy and satisfaction on chef's face when guests actually enjoy the food is cute.
It's nice that guest are not necessarily singers/actors and it in includes other professions.
I don't like about this show is that the sound of eating is too much! I'll be deducting 2 points just for that. (I feel like they reduced it at some point in the show)
**If you don't like eating asmr, do not watch this show with headphone/earbuds.**
I deduct another point because they talk way too much when the guest is eating! let them savor the food!
And there goes another 2points for changing assistant!
the change itself didn't bother me, but the girl couldn't keep the show together! she was too boring and idk how to describe the discomfort I feel by just watching her segments.
If they ended the show instead of changing the assistant I would've given this an 8! it's a shame.
It's not the kind of show you would binge watch, it'll get repetitive if you do that.
If you're going to watch it, better watch one episode per day! or even better if there is more gap between episodes.

My main issue with this drama is the acting.
-I still remember that Maki was a very very interesting character in the anime but here it's just an empty lookalike! that overacts. the only positive about him is looking exactly like the character from the anime and that's it. his facial expressions are just not it.. he lacks the charisma!
-Considering all the effort of the drama to cast someone so similar for Maki's role. the casting for Suzuki/Aoki wasn't right in my opinion. he doesn't look like the character. even that aside he is too stiff and inconsistent. still better compared to Maki's.
Maki and Aoki were my favorite duo in the anime and It's quite unfortunate that the connection of Maki and Aoki was butchered due to stiff/awkward acting.
The acting of the rest of the cast is okay.
Let's talk about the pacing and the plot!
The first episode is so all over the place! scenes are just thrown in! If I wasn't aware of the plot beforehand, I would've dropped it.
Episode 2 wasn't doing any better! I didn't feel anything while watching what happened since it was very rushed!
It got slightly better after ep 3 but still the acting of 2 main characters was either too over the top or too stiff so it kept distracting me.
Here comes my biggest compliment for the drama!
They managed to recreate the unsettling feeling of watching the dead's experience on the screen. It was awesome!
I'll be watching this till the end just for this alone!!

I started this drama solely because it's a short drama and the synopsis sounded interesting!
the acting is meh/inconsistent! (I would've called it bad if I hadn't seen worse!)
the dubbing is bad! lots of incoherent dubs which is hard to ignore.
fight scenes are not good.
the music is annoying.
ZhiZhi has one of those childish voice overs which almost made me drop it! thankfully she doesn't have much screen time.
The story/plot:
-it's a shame that we don't get to see why ml is so in love with fl! he is a heart eyed loving fool from the get go!
-Luo Wushuang's love for ml is as mysterious for me! Her outfits are pretty.
the lack of build up for all relationships has made it extremely shallow and I don't care who is with who!
the lack of chemistry between the leads didn't help either.
-too much "low budget gore" was used for a drama that doesn't know if it's a lighthearted comedy or serious one. (more details on the warnings at the end of this review)
-I think this drama needs a "comedy" tag, it's trying so hard to be funny, but it's not working for me. it's more on the cringe side.
-it got a bit boring midway but I pushed through and skipped some bits to be able to finish it. (I don't think I missed anything while doing so)
It's not unwatchable but it's not something I would recommend either.
**********************
!!!CONTENT WARNING!!! for those who want to watch:
It's not too graphic thanks to the low budget but there are scene such as:
*a hand cut off by sword flying mid air in ep4 and blood.
*there are some bits of torture scenes like throwing hot water in ep 6.
*unnecessary amount of blood spatter when someone hit their head to the table in ep 8.

This review may contain spoilers
I finally watched this because of the positive reviews it got.the first few episodes were interesting, sometimes funny but after maybe 9th episode, it became just like any other generic boring drama out there who wants to send a message to its audience in the worst possible in your face tone..
Despite the promising start and the fact that fl would look at a different angle of the cases that usually others miss, I think they started to get too emotional in handling their cases as drama went on.
Episodes 9 and 10 are the boldest examples. (*spoilers ahead*)
-In ep 9 although the parents had excessive educational practices for the kids, a random guy kidnapping the kids isn't the solution! at least give him a legitimate practice to achieve that goal instead of being unapologetic about kidnapping kids! like building a free playground! or some kind of playtime program.
-In ep 10, no matter how much they wanted to turn it into a love story.. with her situation and that guy, it also felt to me that he was taking advantage of her.. the mom surely was pushing her a bit too much but the mom had legit concerns! fl kept talking about spectrum yet forgetting not everyone is as lucky as her! did the girl really know what it means to love someone? fl lead her on with their conversation in the street. the guy who calls the women in his sight 'noona' or gives nicknames to get close to them and had a history of hitting on another disabled person in the past is such a red flag even for an average girl, let alone the girl in this case.
the rest of the cases were too boring for me to care!!
I can't believe I'm saying this but the romance was unnecessary and it might have been better if fl could find friends along the way or something like that..
My last complaint is the mom ...
I wish they just focused on her life and adapting to society. I mean it would've been very interesting if she actually moved out from his dad's place and changed firms!! yet because of the unnecessary mom plot, she continued working the job she got through connections.. even if the ceo did it out of spite to ruin her mom doesn't change anything.
As for the characters, everyone was likable at some point except Kwon Min U.
at the beginning, although it originated from his jealousy and insecurity, I think he was not wrong about calling out fl for getting the job through connections.
for the rest of the drama though I can not excuse his trashy behavior.
Overall it wasn't unwatchable but it wasn't something to rave about! I won't be re-watching it in future.
If the stuff I mentioned doesn't bother you, go ahead and watch it.

It had potential...
The positive points:+FL is cute. (+1)
+FL and ML's interaction was cute. (+1)
+I can relate to FL the way she goes crazy over the amount of delicious options in a menu and struggles to choose from and ends up ordering a bunch of them. (+1)
+I also like the way she talks to herself in her head and the food narration while she eats is good as well. (+1)
++The shots of food were absolutely beautiful and mouthwatering. (+2 extra because I'm biased to food representation)
The negatives I could say are as follows:
--- at first I was happy that they didn't put mics on her throat to force the viewer to hear the chewing sounds, but they decided to add some weird eating sounds which annoyed me a lot. (-3 points for that because I had to drop it due to those sounds)
-I wish they paid more attention to cast better extras, cause sometimes they are a bit cringe to watch. (-2 points)
-the obsession with foreigners to prove somewhere is famous was lame! places filled with locals are the gems in food spots. (-1 points)
(The positive and negative points are even, so I'll give this a 5.)
Sadly I'm dropping this.
I'm not a fan of listening to people's eating sounds and that's a no no for a food drama imo!
If you don't mind those sounds, go ahead and give it a try.

If you are a foodie, then skip this!
I recently found out about Wakako Zake having drama adaptions so I started watching.I don't really have high expectations with food dramas but this isn't working.
The actress truly reminded me of the anime character instantly and I could assume her resemblance was the casting reason.
I have 2 reasons to drop this:
1-I can't watch her eat! idk if it's the fact that she tries too much to act exactly like the anime with eating, or is it the slow motion eating! she bites a tiny epsilon of the food and goes on chewing on it like it was a big chunk! it makes it as if she is forcing food in while she is going to puke soon!
The side characters eat the food more deliciously than her.
2-Filming the food alone doesn't save this. I can watch actual cooking video if I only wanted to just see the food. sometimes the camera movements annoys me as well.
overall I'll give this a 2.5.
2 for the sake of good food presentation and 0.5 for the acting of the cast except fl.
It is the worst food drama I had ever watched. I'm not going to waste my time on the rest of seasons since I can't even get passed 3 episodes of this one. I guess I stick to the anime for this one.
