This is going to sound sexist, so I apologize in advance. I am stating this is a gay guy who has been through…
You’re right in young men (gays or straight) not talking it out. Actually, it’s not just young men but most men. Men just don’t have heart to heart convos, period. This is why they die early. Jk jk jk.
Yes, Team needs to drop the virgin act. It’s like- we know you nasty. Just staaap..
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, everyone! This year, I’m grateful for Between Us. ♥️
That being said, I see a lot of y’all are complaining about this week’s episode being boring and uneventful. Honestly, as “uneventful” as it is… I’d take scenes of Win and Team doing absolutely nothing but be adorable over the unnecessary other couples. I think we all should remember that Win and Team started as a side couple only to have their stories developed into a smaller series. If they cut it to 8 episodes, maybe we’d have less to complain about. However, I love seeing Boun on the screen so excuse my bias as I welcome more episodes.
I'll be positive about today's episode to start the holidays off merry and bright:
- FINALLY, ABC gang is useful and welcomed in this episode. - I adore Team with Win’s little brother - I’m glad Win told his dad to chill - The kiss on the forehead Team gave Win… effing adorable.
K.,I’m off to Starbucks for my mocha Frappuccino with whipped cream and half syrup.
Just a note: everyone talks about Xu An's father but Bail Lang's sister punched him twice in the stomach when…
I believe the punches she gave him were not meant to hurt him but more of a playful sisterly interactions since she is taken back that they’re dating. She asked him to take care of her brother’s teeth, not fall in love with him. This is not to justify the abuse we see in other bl series, though (looking at you Tharntype) where physically assault is romanticized. Also, in a lot of Asian dramas (both bls and straight) you see a lot of physical violence from authoritative figures at home , school and in the work place. Western culture has more laws and protections against this type of assault but in the Eastern culture (most) it is sadly tolerated.
Omg! Finally caught up and seriously 🤗 Tinn is so handsome and Gun is adorable! I’m really loving their chemistry! I feel like it’s going to show them in college as well so I’m looking forward to it.
I know a lot of us are beyond heartbroken regarding the physical and emotional abuse Xun An had to endure for his love. Trust me when I say, it broke my heart and it did not sit well with me either. I definitely did not want to see that in what has been such a sweet and loving series.
That being said, even though I don’t agree with what the dad did, I can kind of understand why he’s such an asshole. Typical Asian fathers have mostly been domineering, controlling, unreasonable, unrealistic and unkind tyrants. Typical Asian mothers have been submissive, passive and walking door mats. What we saw was a display of very toxic but traditional Asian parent-children relationships. Most typical Asian dad are not accepting or tolerant of their sons being gay, especially if it’s an only son. Their old school way of thinking has been reasons why so many young people have depression and anxiety.
I wish the series addressed more of how the father treated his son and not wrapped it up in a bow without much discussion but I don’t think it’s in most of our realities. I’m depressed just thinking about it. Ugh.
When Win asked Team how he felt about them after calming Team down regarding the homophobic comments from the piece of 💩 students, Team answered that he’s not scared as long as he’s with Team. However, he also said, I want to wait until Dean and Pherm are accepted… did I get a weird translation? Did he mean that he wanted to wait to go public with their relationship bc of the hate Dean/Pharm are getting?
10/10. One of the best series I’ve seen and not just in the BL genre. The storyline is original and the dynamic between the two leads exceeded my expectation. Their chemistry is very natural and all of their intimate moments seem so comfortable and real. The way they shot some of the scenes was so creative (that deep convo they had while walking through the neighborhood).
I agree that the situation with the dad could have and should have been dealt with differently, but I’d take what I can get with a happy ending. AND WHAT AN ENDING WE GOT! Help! So sweet my teeth are hurting!
I did not invest in the other couples bc there was not much substance to invest in. My rating is purely for the main leads. Maybe I’m on this adrenaline rush bc both MTYL and Choco Milk Shake ended on the same day.
