I hate that they didn’t properly say goodbye and now both are full of regrets. I’m praying their reunion will come soon and they don’t have any more heartbreaking scenes.. but that’s just wishful thinking.

I don’t get it. Yes he lied about his identity but he’s told her long ago he has to leave to take care of business; he’s tormented about not taking her with him bc of the danger but asked her anyway; when she rejected this, he asked her to wait for him… WTF IS SHE MAD???
But real talk- I need him to leave already. As much as I love their scenes together, I need to see things move along. They set the chess pieces on the board - let’s get going. I want to see more growth and that means they both need to leave their town.
I’m hearing that their parting will last quite long. I’m not looking forward to that but I know it will add more to their relationship

Also. The way they wrote Yan Zheng/Xie Zheng’s character is just fucking mind blowing.
He’s tamed by wifey but when faced with his enemies.. the way he switches characters- it’s insane. It’s in the details- some minor and some not so subtle but extremely convincing.
He was gently tending to her, and made sure to tuck her in before he turned around and stabbed that butcher in the back. He helped her sell pork, struggled to use the scale, and showed his gentle side by writing beautiful calligraphy . Then, you have him stroking a chopstick, breaking it and flinging it through the door and penetrated the guard’s hand.
He was literally telling her to kill her uncle to solve her problems and then whispered in the dark for her to taste his candy by kissing. Wtffff?!!! I’m OVERWHELMED AND OBSESSED WITH HIM.
