What everybody isnt liking is the producer being "Yuzheng " And from what he said, that, this not a big female lead or male lead drama plot. Or you can say is 50-50. And he also said that he's not looking for a traffic or popular leads, but those with good acting skill. And the female lead (90s) must be very beautiful not just for his personal type of beauty. But must be pleasant to audience. He said that most of the second lead and other cast he will used might just be making their appearance for the first and not popular one.

Because, after he had recieved all the insults and hate from the viewers before the crew release the last ep were all of them seems to coperating and understanding each other. Which make it look like he and finally said something reasonable or done something relevant. Like who will bear him with the hates and insults he had recieved from viewers? Who will apologise or felt they had done wrong to him??

And it was not for people to root for the ML. Particularly. Those who will root for Jibozai will still root for him, regardless of whether theres any change from the second male character or not. And those will who will still root for the sml. despite of his character changes, will still root for him... There is also change in Jibozai, Mingyi, the rest of cast and even the story as well.
