Are you telling me these are seasoned inspectors and police officers? 😭 Why is everyone suddenly so bad at their jobs on the 12th episode? Leaving targeted victims on their own, not checking previous crime scenes... Please tie up everything nicely on the final episode, I beg 🙏
I only recently came across this series. After seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I decided to give it a shot, and it completely consumed me. Even two weeks after finishing it, the story and characters still linger. The On1y One is beautiful, funny, and deeply moving, but I feel compelled to leave a warning for viewers like me who need some sense of closure, especially with emotional, slow-burn stories.
Be warned: this series has no ending. I'm not spoiling what happens, but there's not an open ending, not even a post-credits scene to soften the blow. It simply ends like any other episode, right at a major turning point for the characters. What pushed me to write this is the fact that, although there was a petition for a second season and even a finalized script, I think, production was ultimately cancelled or put on hold indefinitely, which is the same thing - there will be no continuation of The On1y One.
From what I understand, the series is based on a novel. So if you don’t want to miss out on a genuinely compelling story and still need some closure, I’d recommend watching the show and reading the novel. That said, it may not fully satisfy those like me who strongly prefer visual storytelling.
How can you be sure the lead is straight? I'm not sure he isn't but as I think about this flick in the aftermath…
I never thought about it that way, you make a good point but I also watched this movie 2 years ago. I'm sure if I re-watched it I'd catch hints of what you're saying, but from what I remember it's too heavy a movie to re-watch 😅but yes, that's the thing. The violence is what's depicted and that messed me up.
