My go-to genres are non-romantic (thriller, mystery, action, etc). On the occasions I watch BL/GL/gay romance, I prefer those featuring healthy relationships. Themes of pedophilia and incest aren't part of my viewing preferences

I believe omegaverse fans' defensiveness arises from a fear of cognitive dissonance. To accept that their preferred genre is homophobic and misogynistic, they'd have to confront their role in exacerbating societal ills. That'd shatter their self-perception as champions against injustice. They'd be no better than the homophobic, misogynistic majority they criticize. And they don't want to be "the bad guys"

I'd tell them law isn't a definitive moral guide. A child or minor, regardless of reaching the legal threshold for consent, doesn't have the emotional maturity and life experience to engage in a healthy relationship with an adult

To wrap up my points, I'll assert that omegaverse doesn't break new ground. It adheres to human and non-human "straight" relationship patterns, wherein pregnancy is a consequence of interactions among parties involved. Omegas bear the children of alphas, alphas bear the children of enigmas, etc. And the unifying factor is that heat and pregnancy mark the end of the character's identity as a man. An in-depth analysis, unfettered by contemporary gender identity politics, would expose the "straightness" of omegaverse to anyone
