I like this drama, I wish there was more depth in each episode though. Not sure why...it has a similar feel as New Life Begins however those characters stroke more of a chord with me

I am rewatching right now, and I still don't understand something.
Lou Ben has the opportunity through Lin Buyi to get into the court. He has provided intelligence and the map in previous eps. Why doesn't he use this chance? I know the Tutor has pressured him, but surely that is the easier, best course to advance? Especially since you don't go head to head with Buyi? Isn't that easier and safer for his wife and brother than treason?
Maybe I’m too old. But the weaponised incompetence of the FL is just too much to take.
She won’t speak up for herself, lies (and continues to for a long time) to her childhood friend, accepts poor or abusive treatment from colleagues, can’t make the effort to look presentable for her employment even though its taken her a long time to get a job and she desperately needs the money. If this was building to a deeper characterisation of the character, it would still be hard to swallow but this goes on until around ep 10 and it doesn't. Then she straightens her hair and got “pretty”.
Then the ML starts liking her. To this point he has been an awful person; mean spirited, dismissive and plain rude with little to recommend him. ML is aggressive to a subordinate employee, tantamount abusive at some points. As the viewer, am I supposed to accept that TA-DA she got makeup/ straight hair he becomes a nice worthwhile person? FL also accepts 180 from ML. OK then…
Female best friend is pretty good, overall decent. Reporter Kim was annoying. Half baked side story about mistaken identity of rich father was lame. I could go into more aspects of this show, but it was so poorly written, I am surprised at the high rating.
Everyone in this series is an idiot. Why would you keep the ex around, especially when you know she wanted to use you and didn't care one bit about you

I actually gave it a chance and watched a few episodes to see if there was a redeemable arc. But, for me, the writing wasn't strong enough to overcome the bullying at the start.
Dropped - I don't care for reasons. Don't bully people, don't allow people to bully, harass, or torment you. If a situation arises, explain and make people listen to you. I can't stand story lines around involving toxic people in your life, because your 'love' will solve / heal everything. URGH
