I'm afraid I'll get lynched for this, but I actually think Ok Ryeon is better for Jung Tae than Gaya ever since…
Have you read the manhwa? Do you know if the adaptation is accurate? Because I've dealt with a lot of adaptations, and they almost never follow it precisely. More often the original work is only used as foundation, the general idea. It's not unusual at all for important events and/or characters to get changed, switched around, or written out altogether. (If you read the synopsis on this page, it clearly isn't the synopsis for the show, but that's probably how the manhwa story started - Jung Tae's father is supposed to already be dead.) Yes, even the main couple may be changed. I would love to read the original story if I could ever find it; I'm sure it's a lot better written and more consistent.

Same as what happened to all the other loose ends... This show makes me facepalm over and over.

Coffee Prince was where I first saw Kim Jae Wook who quickly became one of my favorites. (Yes, that eventually led to Mary haha)

Jung Tae's character feels a bit flat lately.
I wasn't trying to look at it scientifically, so let me rephrase: he can't act. A flat character who has a blank face 99% of the time is that much more boring. Thankfully, the majority of background cast are intriguing characters with talented actors, so I'm actually pretty satisfied overall.

True. He's pretty much a generic "shounen" hero (anime/manga fans will understand). However, it deeefinitely doesn't help the situation that the actor has like two facial expressions at most. =_=

"Lately"? >_> It's been a flat character ever since the story jumped forward from their childhood years lol.

The writers don't know what they're doing, so I guess it's starting to affect the size of the audience. There's only so far you can go with pretty faces and a few interesting background characters. Also, as I gathered from the comments, people are disappointed with the scarcity of romance scenes. Definitely not my personal biggest concern, but it's to maybe answer your question.

After watching episode 18, I'm sure that Kim Hyun Joong has as many facial expressions as a blinking goldfish…
Or like when he found out about Poong Cha's death. I was like... Please... make it stop... you're ruining the scene! =_= And I don't know, I guess they wanted to attract more viewers (fangirls) by using an idol... But there are MANY idols who CAN act, so I really don't know what to say.

You win. But personally I prefer that (blank expression). Because when he actually attempts to show emotion, it's pretty traumatizing... >.>

Ah alright, so it's like one independent story per episode? What about Jae Rim, is he only main character in one of the stories?

YES to all of what you said. I don't know why the three leads are so bloody boring.

Am I wrong or did I miss something? Mo Il Hwa saved Jung Shin Jung Tae in the past because he owes his father…
I think it's only easier when you genuinely enjoy the show. I wish I'd have all 24 episodes on me right now, so I could get it over with haha. There's a lot that I like and even love about this drama, but there's more that I dislike or makes no logical sense or is inconsistent. This will not receive a high rating from me, but I don't regret it. I discovered several great actors and some scenes were quite stunning visually. :)

*nod nod* Let's go with the flow. It's the only way (for me) to enjoy it at this point. I've pretty much re-written episode 17 in my mind so that it'd make some sense, otherwise it upsets me too much. My first ever ongoing drama and what a pain.
