Am I wrong or did I miss something? Mo Il Hwa saved Jung Shin Jung Tae in the past because he owes his father…
Update after episode 17: Apparently, they meant the Dandong family. As in, whoever remained after being driven out of Leader Mo's territory. Can't tell if the fan-subbers are at fault or if the writers decided they didn't make it clear enough earlier (aka they realized that casually slipping in previously unknown details doesn't always go unnoticed). Apologies for all the sarcasm, I couldn't help it.

It's a spontaneous piece of back-story they came up with on the spot, in order to make Mo Il Hwa (whose re-appearance holds deep meaning that totally has nothing to do with viewership ratings) have a real reason to fight Jung Tae. In their defense, they never said Mo Il Hwa's mother was his only family. I'm not trying to actually defend them by the way, I'm trying to persuade myself not to drop this show. *sigh*

I feel you, my free time is very limited also. And I haven't seen that many dramas either. I would recommend Coffee Prince, if you haven't seen it already! :)

Just saw your very positive comment on Mary Stayed Out All Night and it made me smile. Because I love it too. Seems a lot of people found it boring (which I was unaware of until I registered on this site) and I wasn't sure why.

I see you're still adding to your list ^^

Writers better not be thinking of bringing Mo back and killing him off just like that... Ughh
I just don't want them bringing him back for the sake of Jung Tae's character development. Mo Il Hwa is too big of a character himself to be used in such a way. I'm trying to patiently wait for next week, but it's hard to ignore all the bad thoughts -.-
It seems a few people were thrown off by the family thing, myself included, but I had to remind myself how little we know of him to begin with. That his mother is dead doesn't mean he has no other family. Though it did kinda feel like they made it up on the spot, it's not completely groundless.

I'm totally glad Mo Il Hwa is back, but can someone tell me why he wants to take over the club? Other than "we…
No problem, you're welcome. Besides, it's just my understanding of the situation. It's pretty open-ended, so others may have other theories.
Same here. *shakes head*

Awh, thank you! It's the only movie I've seen with that actor... I kept the profile picture to remind me that I still need to discover him (in detail).

The years were likely spent watching and observing and waiting for the best time to strike. His only miscalculation was that Jung Tae was there.

The family thing bothered me a bit too, but I sort of just went with the flow. (I mean, it's not like we know anything about him anyway, save for the fact that family holds much importance to him. Remember how he changed when his mother was brought up.) I don't like where they're trying to take this though, and I hope I'm wrong this time.

Actually, I sort of predicted that Mo Il Hwa would want his hands on the club, but I wasn't serious. It was when we just learned that they're bringing his character back. I was having a conversation with one of my friends and I was like, "Watch Leader Mo is gonna come back and overtake Shanghai or something". Then I was like, "...I was kidding, okay?" It was funny and not at the same time. But I think it makes sense. As for still not having his place, let's not forget his pride and status. He wouldn't just find some deserted village and settle in. After all, Dandong (sp?) was a pretty big deal, and with his pride already wounded after having been evicted in such a cowardly manner, I think it's only fair that he wants the throne this time. And it seems Club Shanghai is the highest throne on offer.

Figures. One of the only two dramas where Jae Rim plays one of the main characters is something with the most ambiguous synopsis and also doesn't exist on the internet. >_>

My thoughts exactly. I fear that they brought him back to kill him off and therefore make Jung Tae more angry and motivated or something. It's a move very common to this kind of genre. I really hope I'm wrong.

Did you watch the entire episode, especially towards the end? Anyway, his initial personal motive remains mostly unclear, however, I think it makes perfect sense that like others, he'd want to get his hands on such a big piece of cake. Why not? Especially when there's no official owner. He lost his own place after all. The thing is he didn't know Jung Tae was also there. I may be wrong, but I think he would be siding with Jung Tae in the end. Pretty much do the same thing, pretend to work with Hwangbang then back-stab them. However, all of that becomes unimportant because of the 'deal' in the end of the episode where they threatened to kill his family unless he fights Jung Tae for real and secures club ownership for Hwangbang. :(

Hi Prisca. I'm not sure what to call a younger person (I assume you are younger, unless I don't know the right meaning of onnie), still fairly new to all things Korean.

Yes, We Are Dating Now is one of them. Thank you for the link, I'll save it for later. Some others I think are Law Firm, Delicious Proposal, Great Great... Some are available with subtitles, but some aren't available at all. Anyway, there are still more recent (or not as old) dramas I haven't seen, like Road Number One and Something Happened in Bali. I look forward to them.

I just don't have a lot of free time. So I'm only following one. And I watch anime too. It's tough with so many hobbies haha.

?????? hate me for this but this drama is just not exciting me {expect Mo ll-Hwa and Doo Go) lol have they changed…
I definitely like Jung Jae Hwa. I meant Mo Il Hwa and Do Ggoo as two favorites from the beginning of the show, since before Shanghai. :)

I know right. Way to tease us like that. And So So pretty much melted, that was a bit cliche but adorable. SIGH. Waiting for 16 subs.
