Episodes 1-3 Holy Shite! I love it! I had been waiting and waiting and it doesn't disappoint. LXY is a perfect Murong and WJY is great as the assassin-avenger. The chemistry is good too--that first kiss! Whew!
I don't know if the drama will follow the novel closely but is the novel good?
The novel ML was so red flag. I wanted to burn and kill him off in the book, LOL. He was truly a scumbag and the way he treated the FL was unforgiveable. Unforgiveable. And yet...happy ending because she loved him.
I kinda like the fact that DE didnโt have to stoop to the level of her abusers. She was able to cleverly manipulate…
Yes, taking off shoes is very important in Asian societies. See all the modern C-Dramas with the people entering homes and they are given slippers after taking off their shoes. The bullies always came to the young DE's house without taking their shoes off and then made her "dance" for them. Notice that DY was so shocked his wife walked into someone's home with her high heels on and grounded out a cigarette on the floor. That was the ultimate rudeness. DE was very touched that DY didn't do that.
Secondly, there is a game of go going on between our "couple." He was fascinated by her moves at first--why did she prolong the game when she had already won? He tried to figure it out on his own but couldn't. So he paid her to play with him and she kept winning. The drama did not show how many times they met to play but their conversation hinted that it was more than twice. He was so familiar with her moves that by the time he met the Forgettable Boyfriend (TM) and played with him, he recognized her style immediately.
This game of go between them was almost a flirtation. When she showed up in that short-sleeved dress and he saw the scars, he knew the endgame. He asked her what she was aiming for and DE told him the truth--for him to leave his wife because he was her glory. But DY realized at that moment (in the game of go) that if he did that, that was the END of that game with her. There would be no more meetings. So what did he say? "I will not leave my wife. I do not know why yet. So we will meet again." TADA! I told you I've been chewing and chewing on their scenes together, hahaha.
I think it is quite enough that, not only did she lose everything, but she is now being effโed up in prison…
The weather forecast at the end was so brilliantly acted. Did you notice weather play an important part through the whole drama? DE brought in fog and then the forecast annoucement from Yeon Jin was always ominous, but told by her in her cheerful manner (which added to the irony), and then lastly, when DE and her forgettable boyfriend entered the second prison, the clouds were ominous again.

I enjoyed that she so liked and admired Do Young so much that, after seeing his respect for her house (removing his shoes), she wanted to STOP her revenge by giving Yeon Jin a chance to apologize in public. She personally went to meet with her and gave her the ultimatum. I love that scene. She showed YJ some of her evidence and yet YJ was too arrogant, still threatening her with more iron curlers. So DE told her she was glad after that meeting because now she could continue with her course of action. First, it showed DE's humanity still coming through, despite her hatred. Second, it tickled my shipping heart that DE had a secret liking for DY, even though it was never to be (sob).

And Xue Fang Fei's Dad is Wang Shang!

and in Part One, I think I posted something as a reply in one of the Other Topics.
