Not dead. The novel is a lot more macabre than the drama. He beat her "corpse" and carried it around for days. That's not gonna happen in the drama. They aren't following the novel, by the way. The ML in the drama is Red Flag with hearts printed on one side, the Novel ML is a deep Black Flag with hardly any redemption (raping and letting women be raped).

It's an adaptation. ML is nowhere near as Black Flag as Novel ML. LXY is doing a great job being a dark-hearted but sexy ML. Watch the first two episodes and if you don't like it, then check out the other new dramas which just came out. They are more the usual type of C-historical romances.
