Does anyone know why isn’t this drama appearing in the YOUKU international app? They said YOUKU recently held an event to promote it but why isn’t it available for international viewers?

I said it many times she doesn't love him, he's only a mission for her, even he himself realized that at the end..."…
I agree with you. Reading the above comments made me see that a lot of people hates the FL, which is pretty groundless. She might not have ever said in words but her action says otherwise. I always felt that she’s a person of actions rather than words. Isn’t there a saying that action speaks louder than words? I also see that she’s conflicted with her love towards ML (she knows his destiny that’s completely oblivious to him). It’s harder for her to embrace those feelings. And I’m also pretty sure she’s aware that she never told him those ā€œimportantā€words. Hence in the end she said she waits for his return, so that she can tell him that ā€œimportantā€ something. Another reason he must return and a reason for her to wait/search for him.

I’m pretty surprised so much hate is direct towards FL. I wondered how how those people felt when they watch the part where ML manipulate her like she’s a ā€˜thing’. I’ll be very honest I was completely horrified. No matter the reason he did it for me it was unforgivable. If someone ever took away my free will like that, then it’s game over for us. That’s my attitude so in comparison FL is way too nice.

To be fair the drama is very good. It was magnificent where it did well. It’s a pity that it will sit below some of the most epic drama till date just because this drama need to meet current airing regulations. It’s very unfair to compare a 70+ ep drama (or a 2 seasons drama) with one that was only allowed to broadcast 40 ep max. The editing team could have done a better job editing the drama but they might also be running on a tight schedule to fix the episode count before broadcast date.

There are many places where the drama shined.
Story/backdrop: The story was intriguing, complex, and unique. From the get go, it showed us the end of the world is not just a vague idea, it’s very real. We as the audience witnessed it and the FL whose shoulders we’re watching the tale unfold witnessed it: the end of the world in a xianxia universe. She lost her home and all her love ones in an instant. And from that point on the audience should be aware of what the FL is working against, the fate of the world and fate of ML where she was the only fighter. I remember reading about some people comments in which they questions her actions and decision. An example was her decision to save Xiao Lin. For me, her actions were consistent with her character. She have seen her elder disciple brother Gongye Jiwu dying in front of her. She probably didn’t want to see that happen again. BUT I did wonder why she didn’t try to talk to ML first. When it comes to Xiao Lin, people question why she never considered the political implications and what her action means. For me, I noticed very early on that FL never tried to understand ML’s political position as hostage prince. I was slightly frustrated with her cluelessness about that aspect of the story until it hit me again: she’s an immortal, the only descendant of a god. Of course she couldn’t understand worldly conflict of interest, political interest. For her nothing is more important than preventing the end of the world and saving the love ones she had lost.

Gender dynamics/ relationship: Another unique aspect of the tale is the gender dynamics were flipped. The girls are almost always coming to the rescue and the boys were kinda the damsel in distress… lol it’s cool and funny. Actually rather than saying gender roles were reverse, it also seems like a learning experience for FL and ML to learn to establish a relationship of love, trust, and consideration. In the beginning, the FL dominated their relationship. In the middle, the ML dominated their relationship. By the end, they seem to learn none of that mattered. What mattered is that they loved each other.

Art style: At first I found the style gaudy and exaggerated. As I watch, I realize that it’s because the setting is different from other xianxia. I watched a lot of Daoist style xianxia (that has a 天åø), but this one is more Buddhist/Indian style xianxia. I notice the halos, the clothing style called dunhuang, the architecture style of Shangqing God realm. I loved it. It gives the drama a different feel and imbues the drama with a different kind of mystical qualities.

All in all my verdict is that it’s still an awesome drama to watch. The ending was not perfect and it was even slightly disappointing. But the ending doesn’t ruin the overall story. You will definitely enjoy it.

No, it’s not past, it’s different characters, god of war is dragon who sleep in the river. There a lot more…
Hmmm but how come Jize god of time (in the dream world) saw li susu/ye ziwuā€˜s future when he first laid eyes on sang jiu ? And gave her an advice for the future something along the lines of ā€œdon’t forget what you believe inā€??? That would make it appear like sangjiu was li susu’s past reincarnation……sorry there’s way too many comments to read below 😭

Oh my god so the ā€œdream ā€œ is not just a dream. It’s their past life 10,000 years ago?! 10,000 years ago when the first demon god was defeated at the cost of the entire god realm. 10,000 years ago when there was this witch. And which 500 years later a new demon god rises from out of nowhere and meets female lead. And male lead could possibly be the god of war from 10,000 years ago??! We’re finally getting some answers but new questions are cropping up everywhere! Omg to the plot! I’m completely hoked! (FYI the translation isn’t so accurate… there’s a distinction between the ā€œdemonā€ and evil spirits (youkai)….…)

The summary sound cringey too me and I was afraid it’ll have too much fluffy romance. I’m on ep 24 now and I have to say the romance when it does happen isn’t cringey at all. As if to avoid cliche scenes, the production team/scriptwriter seem to reinterpretation all cliche romantic scenes with a ton of sarcastic humor (anime/comic kind of humor). The humor seem to strength the ml and fl’s chemistry rather than being overly fluffy/cringey type of romance. The story from what I can see focus on the story/crime of this made up universe. It’s actually refreshing and interesting. It’s also nice that the fl and ml are both evenly clever, compatibly clever 😊.

Acting: Li yitong’s acting is amazing period. She completely made me believe that she’s a young lady again as supposed being 30+ years old. I haven’t watch her in any drama for awhile. Watching her again made me remember why I love her acting so much. I also suspect that with her excellent acting she must have help her costars to get in character when they were acting. The ML I’ve never seen him before but his acting is pretty good too. I feel like he was pretty on point with a lot subtle expressions. He definitely has room to improve. But not once I thought his acting wasn’t good enough or that he was out of character. Enjoy his character a lot. My sister kept sayin he isn’t good looking. But I think he looks fine. I love his interpretation of his character and that’s what most important for me.

Clothing and hair: I have to say. I can tell this isn’t a highly budgeted drama because the fabric of their costume looks a little thin and cheap. But whoever designed the costumes made them look so cute and amazing (colors of each garment complimented really well with each other that make the costume stand out).. FL costumes are plentiful, colorful, and cute. I love the embedded colorful stones on the qi people’s clothing. General/sister’s red and white costume is my favorite (white over and red under creating an inside out look) and her hats are cute.

Camera/fight scenes: very awesome. I don’t know how to describe it wonderful interesting angling/swinging of the camera capturing unique moments of fight scenes. I want to point out the filming is amazing. Beautiful and interesting. Helped gave more excitement to fight scenes that might have been seen as normal/bland to certain audience.

I’ll probably rate it when I complete it. From where I am at ep24 this drama definitely deserve a SOLID 8.5 rating.

Title The Blood of Youth Spoiler
Hmm since watching this show, I want to point this outI noticed that a decent amount of ppl like lei wujie (I…
Are you referring to Qianluo? If so, I kinda disagree. I agree that Qianluo and Wujie are similar types of people with similar personalities, but I don’t think the people who dislike her dislikes her for that reason. For me, I actually liked her character when she entered in episode 1 (I believe?) where she broke the carriage and galloped away. I thought she was awesome! I loved how energetic, mischievous, bright, and funny she was. But after that scene, as the story progressed, her character lost that shine and lacked stage presence. Especially in scenes with multiple actors, where she’s in the scene but has no lines or very few lines, she should be reacting to peoples’ lines in those scenes as natural as possible, but instead she looks very awkward. Ex. Scene where Lei Wu Jie forces Xiao Se to pretend to the a physician (the magistrate of that city is requesting for a physician for Ruo Yi). And the scene where Lan Yue Hou and General Ye were bickering in front of Qian Luo and Wujie at Lei Family Fortress. If Qian Luo and Wujie were supposed to be similar in character, she looks very awkward the way she’s acting besides Wujie as he responds to xiao Se’s real identity. I know this is my opinion but I loved this drama/story so much I watched it more than 10x (bought Youku VIP) and I watched all of the anime adaptions of Zhou Mu Nan’s other books (The Young Brewmaster’s Adventure, Word of Honor anime, The Great Journey of Teenagers S1 and currently on S2, and I’ll probably be watching Legend of Assassins when it comes out). I don’t think people dislike her for her character/personality… Instead I think there are 2 main reasons people disliked her character in the drama: 1.) The script writer did Qianluo’s character great injustice. They took out her scenes and lines and simplified her character (compared to the anime). As a matter of fact, other female characters were stripped of their scenes too. Bai Hu (Ji Xue) made multiple small appearance in anime S2, but in the drama she entered when the drama was more than half way completed. She and Ruo Yi also had at least 2 conversations which were deleted. As such, with fewer scenes and fewer lines, it’s hard for Qianluo and other female characters to have proper character development without it feeling forced. 2.) If the production team wanted a bright and lively main female lead to come to life with the scarce scenes and limited lines they provided for her, they should have picked an actress with acting experience. The actress who acted as Qian Luo was basically fresh out of acting school when she got the role. From what I know she has no acting experience. How do they expect a badly written Qianluo for the drama compounded with an inexperience actress was going to succeed?

The anime S2 did a good job creating the heroine Qianuo (she was NOT dumb) and showing how Xiao Se and Qianluo fell in love (sometimes a bit cringey). In the beginning of anime S2, Qianluo was more interested in the dog Xiao Se owned than Xiao Se. Xiao Se had a particular expression on his face. When Xiao Se blocked Qianluo’s way, she exclaimed to her assistants/bodyguards that ā€œhe’s mineā€, Xiao Se looked happy. Their fight in that scene basically started their martial rivalry and romance much like Lei Meng Sha and Li Xin Yue. A good scene that for me seem to deepen their significance to each other is when Xiao Se was cornered by 2 Dark River assassin. The way Qian Luo made her entrance was awesome. The anime even slow mode it and Xiao Se could not take his eyes off of her. He could have died in the anime. When he needed someone the most, she appeared out of no where like a shooting star dressed in yellow against the dark night. Even though all these scenes are the same scenes in both Live and Anime adaptions, these scenes were presented very differently.

My verdict is that I don’t believe people dislike Qianluo for her personality, but instead the script writers did a very unfair job to her character compounded with the actress’s own inexperience which spelled the failure of the Live adaption of the main female lead Qianluo.
On The Blood of Youth Jan 11, 2023
Hmmm šŸ¤” I really like ye ruo yi’s character more than sikong qianluo. Qianluo seems so flat. She doesn’t seem to have a purpose in the story except to be ml’s love interest and to hold the vermillion post. I really want to like her since ep 1 (I liked her yellow outfits and energy) but she doesn’t have her own story to tell or a voice of her own that fleshes her out. She’s extremely flat sadly. On the other hand ruo yi has her own voice, conviction, decision, and belief. She has more interesting scenes and interactions with the other mls. Ex. The sword dance scene, the scene where she and tang lian escapes from tang men and she speaks up for him even though she’s about to collapse, and the scene where she appears in front of xiao se and becomes his strategist (they didn’t say anything at first but exchange grim looks acknowledging each other’s grief for tang lian’s passing). These are just a few scenes I remember where she stand out for me the most. She does things behind the scene for xiao se, understand how he felt, and patiently waits when he is ready to face his destiny. I’m not saying I think she should be paired with xiao se or anything. Just that she felt more alive for me.

I wasn’t going to watch this drama because the title is kinda corny and cliched. But I saw Liu Xue Yi is in it, even if he doesn’t get lead roles when he’s in a drama, it must be a good drama. All the drama I’ve watched that has him in it turns out pretty good. And I have to say the drama didn’t disappoint me at all. It’s extremely fun to watch. The story keeps on escalating. There’s action followed by more action. I haven’t watched a fast paced and action packed wuxia drama in a long time. This drama is very satisfying to watch. I like lei wujie and wuxin a little more than xiao se. He’s really similar to the ml of nirvana in fire and love in between. But his chemistry with his good friends (lei wujie and wuxin) and friendship with tang lian set him apart from the mls of NIF and love in between. He’s not the main focus and he’s not the only ml. I found this really refreshing and I found that the other mls help deepens the overall story. 😊
On Unchained Love Jan 3, 2023
I’m on ep 16 or 17 but I’m not liking how choppy the editing, the story, and character development are. I didn’t have extremely high expectations because I know it’s not a high production. There something wrong with how the ml and fl fall in love and their chemistry feels very forced and unnatural because the script/story didn’t probably show how love naturally developed between the two. Of course it’s my opinion. I just feel that their love looks really childish and because of how childish it is, it looks really uncharacteristic of the ml. For me the ml feels out of character compared to what i glimpsed from the synopsis and from his characterization in the beginning. The fl character development is fine though. I really like the fl and the story gives her scenes, flashbacks, dialogues that help explain her reasons/logic and her character. She feels alive and realistic to me. I don’t like Yukee before because I didn’t like any of the drama she acted in of the ones I watched but here I really like her logic and all her subtle expressions and minute change of expression. I don’t think it’s the actors and actresses fault I really think it’s just the bad scripting, editing, and bad directorship… I’ll finish the drama and give my final thoughts… šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

(It’s Thai subbed. Took Chinese classes when I was in school so I was able to understand most of the video)

I found a promo video where one of the staff explains the main theme of the drama: ā€œIt’s because I met you that I am able to become a better version of myself.ā€ He then goes on to explain it’s the reason why they didn’t incorporate any scheming and plotting against each other as that would I imagine deviate from the main theme of the drama.

I think they did a pretty good job that’s pretty much what I took away from the drama.
On Love between Fairy and Devil Oct 15, 2022
This is a great watch. This is like other xianxia drama that I’ve watched but also feels slightly different. The kind of slight difference that sets it apart from other xianxia. (Funny how a to people comment on how it’s different from other xianxia.) It shares all the major similarities with the xianxia genre but for me what set this drama apart is how they added a comical pacing to the drama which breaks up the traditionally serious and extremely ā€œfairyā€-like presentation of xianxia. And this comical element isn’t over done, it’s weaved in thru the main leads portrayal, interaction, and character development. And it works (it’s acceptable) without being overly cheesy exactly because it’s portrayed to us from the getgo that the fairy is extremely young for fairy standards, the lowest ranked fairies, and that she’s weak and powerless because of her damaged roots that hinders her cultivation. And on the other hand is the ml who’s much older, the cruel ruthless moon supreme, one of the most powerful beings on their universe, but devoid of any emotion or conscience (literally was plucked out of him.)

The plot is interesting without being too complicated or too simple. There are no backstabbing or dumb misunderstanding that would make this drama unbearable to watch and cliched. Character development is written very well for many characters besides the main leads (Chang heng, Dan yin, and Jie li). Even though the plot is rather straightforward, it’s probably one of the harder dramas for them to act in. Many characters need to act more than one role ( a complete opposite from their original role.) For the ml, major inherent changes in his character literally made him a new person (he’s more himself than he ever was).

The music and soundtrack is awesome. Sounds original and unique, scary, beautiful , and made the scenes more engaging. For example the folk song that was sang by the villagers of the moon tribe when they stood vigil for their lost ones. That made the scene much more sad and beautiful.

And lastly Dylan wang fit his role very well. From his looks to his acting. And I’m not talking about his good looks. I’m talking about how his mean cold angular features fit the face of the evil and cruel moon supreme. Most xianxia has feminine male paired with beautiful goddess which is how xianxia are. But this drama is different and the ml is drastically different. Here we have the ml bring to our eyes a scary and crazy moon supreme, whose piercing cold eyes convey nothing but fury, hatred, and the desire to slaughter.

Title Be Reborn
Hmmm I started watching this drama because I was very bored and had nothing else to do. When I saw karry wang is one of the leads I assumed it wasn’t going to be very good. I was one of those who held a prejudice that idols can’t act. I also didn’t like his acting from chusen that’s the only one I remember him in. As such, I had extremely low expectations for this drama. I was only going to spare 5 or 10 minutes of my time if it wasn’t good. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting much …this drama hit me really hard and I enjoyed it a lot . It was intense and fast paced without feeling rushed. For me, the plot holes didn’t seem evident until I watched it the second time. It was fast paced enough so that for the most part I was able to overlook small plot holes because I was more concern with ā€œwhat will happen nextā€ than ā€œis this realisticā€. Didn’t really have the time to spare for that

Like what people commented below, karry wang’s acting isn’t perfect. But for the most part I think he acted his role very well. There were parts that feels a little unpolished. But compared to his acting from 2015 and the drama eagles and youngster (which I recently skimmed thru a bit) I think he’s improved. I also found out that he graduated from acting school recently in 2021. He more or less just started his acting career. He definitely have room for more improvement. I found it hard to understand comments that say he should never get another acting role. It sounds way to harsh for someone who just started acting seriously and who even went to school for it.

My dad never watch mainland Chinese dramas. But he got hooked to this one and enjoyed it. It’s definitely a great watch.

I watched his drama Be Reborn and I enjoyed it a lot. His acting improved since I last watched him in the drama Chusen (he was a kid in this drama and for some reason I remember I was sort of annoyed with his acting šŸ¤”). I’m looking forward to his movie Fallen bridge. 😊
