I understand these criticisms of CXQ's character, although I must note, again, that no one can predict the reaction of a person in a given situation, I can only guess how I would react, but that is only an assumption until I find myself in a given situation. I know that cultural patterns were strictly observed at that time, but I am also convinced that there were not a small number of those who violated them, either because of jealousy, or because of revenge, or because of the psychological problems they were dealing with. Overall, my comment was about CYY's behavior at that moment, and why I do not see such behavior as something strange or out of character for him.

I don't know if people who have such an opinion about CYY (that he never loved GJZ) have ever heard of affect? Even murder in affect has a lower penalty. A person in affect can do all sorts of stupid things, because at that moment they have no control over their emotions and, more importantly, their rational reasoning is clouded. To say that CYY was out of character at that moment is, to say the least, ridiculous. He felt betrayed not only by CJZ (let's not forget that he had already noticed that something was happening, but that he was waiting for her to tell him herself), but also by CXQ, whom he loved as a son (whom he carefully raised and molded, and whose death caused him immense pain, despite the terrible betrayal he experienced from that same CXQ).
An easy 10/10 for me. And one of the best C-dramas I've watched in years.Yes, Episode 38 went a bit haywire at…
I couldn't agree more. I seriously think this ending is perfect for the story we've been watching for the last 10 episodes. I don't know why people expect butterflies and rainbows, after so many dead people close to the main couple? Whoever is here for the romance, I think there was more romance than in any C drama of this type, they don't have to rub it in our faces, even for the last 3 minutes of the drama. We're all intelligent enough to figure out how the story could go (especially since CYY is the man closest to the king, the book of reforms is in his hands, the king has eliminated the potential threat by decree, and there is absolutely no one who can come between the main couple). Even this fire at the end of the episode (from which only the book of reforms was saved) is a cleverly thought-out ending to a story that began with a fire and intrigue at court over the reforms. A great full circle.
I stopped paying attention to the ratings here a long time ago, because when you read the comments and see how some people reason, it's clear to you that ratings are not a measure of quality. This drama is in my top 5 for now. Exceptionally written characters, excellent acting, beautiful costumes...
Their conflict in Ep 33 and 34 kinda disgust me because Sir, you are old AF and were even married before. Why…
No matter how old someone is, how many relationships they have had, how many times they have been cheated on, betrayed, every new relationship is a new story and you start over, convinced that your partner is the right one this time, that they are honest and that you can have complete trust in them. A person who feels betrayed can react emotionally and irrationally. Not only did the person he loves with all his heart hide that she was openly flirting with his nephew, but she also hid that even after marrying CYY, that same nephew was behaving inappropriately and threatening her reputation and the reputation of the entire family. Very immature behavior, and let's not forget that women at that time at the age of 18 had much greater responsibility, could manage the household, the servants...
this girl 🤦gave him divorce paper so easily.just because he was angry and jealous???
It seems to me that he reacted like a mature, adult person. He needed some peace and solitude to process what was happening and what he had just heard (which she had kept quiet about, even though she knew there was a chance that CXQ would confess everything, because he's a real wretch), in order to make a rational decision instead of reacting in anger and hurting both himself and her.
How brilliantly they showed the difference between healthy and disturbed unrequited love. YX, although he still loves JZ, knows how to set boundaries, so that, above all, his love wouldn't hurt JZ. On the other hand, CXQ turns his infatuation into a sick obsession, which hurts not only him but everyone around him. Maturity is primarily reflected in actions, and YX proved to be much more mature and responsible in this situation.

It will probably be difficult for him, but he can't hold anything against CYY, because at no point did he publicly express his feelings for GJZ. I think CYY even asked him if he had feelings for any other girl and he denied it.
To some extent, CYY was the one who killed the possibility between CXQ and GJZ, then one day CXQ discovered his…
If you've been following the story closely, CYY has explained to his nephew why he can't marry any girl except the one he's going to marry. As his career progresses, more tempting marriage proposals will come, but this will inevitably lead to digging into his past, and that would mean the end, not only for CXQ, whose father committed treason, but probably for the family that adopted him. His future father-in-law knows who he is, and won't ask unnecessary questions, and in return, he'll form an alliance with the Chen family. So no one has cut off the branch CXQ is sitting on, it's simply the price he has to pay if he wants to live the life he's used to.
am i the only one who doesn’t like the ml? no one in that drama deserves the fl tbh. the ml is very manipulative…
I also wonder, what exactly is his manipulativeness reflected in? He behaves absolutely correctly towards her, considering his position and his age. He's even softer in some situations, but I assume that's because he's slowly falling for her.
