The japanese kids pretty often don't say "I" or "Me", but use their name instead. She pretty much try to act like a little girl, which feeling is a little difficult to be translated in english, as their is no so big difference.
But anyway, After I watched first 3-4 episodes I thought that she has some mental illness, that's why is overprotected (and that this will be the main scenario idea).
