Guilty conscience? He probably took some cheap shortcuts that led to the stadium collapse and ML has likely always suspected him. Probably coveted the mum, too, when she was still married to ML's father. Pei takes after his father; both are bastards to the highest degree!!!

I am so full of angst because tomorrow is going to be a very rough watch with that bloody Pei character trying to mess with the FL. I really, really hate him. So, yeah, he's doing a great job, lol. I cannot wait to witness his downfall because he is a serious bastard who only wants to win by forcing failure onto others.

Also concerned about when the FL's parents learn about ML's true identity, but I absolutely do not believe that Xiu will blame him.

I don't think the friend is more handsome. They are pretty equal in looks to me. But I do have a problem with how neglectful the husband is. He doesn't even text or return texts, which he could do on the way to the bathroom, lol.

I have also been thinking the workaholic thing might split them. He's just never there!

Also, some people are saying others want the friend with the ML's friend because he's more handsome. For me, they are pretty much in the same league, looks wise, but the friend is friendlier.

According to people who've read it there are extremely few similarities.

That father is Pei's father; XZY's father is dead. I'm leaning toward blended family--ML's mum and SML's father, but who the heck knows? We shall soon find out!

Actually, he still has the old job even though she encouraged him to quit, so he's burning the candle at both ends.

You are too generous. If anyone should be feeling abandoned it's our ML who lost his father at such a young age and the mother remarried into Pei's awful family. It's clear that XZY is utterly devoted to his biological father's memory and to clearing his name. And he's way more invested in achieving that goal than he is in competing with PettyPigPei.

It's natural for them to compete on various projects and they weren't the only ones being considered for this project. The major difference is that Pei just wants to beat XZY just to say he did, whereas XZY wants to win bids solely based the excellence with which he executes his craft and wouldn't be all bummed out losing to Pei just because it was Pei.

Yes, I think the mother probably changed her son's surname to hers so that people would not immediately associate XZY, who was still quite a young child, with the tragedy and spurn him. In the preview that pig Pei calls him "stained" and I want to crush the lenses of his glasses in his eyes.

From the spoilers it seems that his mother and the step-father didn't want him to study architecture so they enacted economic sanctions against him, but he did it on his own and is now fast becoming a star in the field. So the father has a grudging respect for XZY and also sees how his own son is a bit of a spoilsport more focused on trying to hurt him than excelling in his own right.

Except XZY is not his child and I have a feeling that the step-father had some petty competitive gripe against the ML's bio father just like his petty son.
