Opposite. I dropped the novel, too, hoped that the series would be better but in fact it is much worse. I would be curious about the writer of the novel, nice level of knowledge on habits, customs and showing them, zero knowledge on reality or how human's connection works. A monk maybe or a nun?
Anyway the novel at least tried to explain that how a 16 yrs old girl can be a genius excelling in everything from martial art till scheming, understanding book-keeping and being better doc then the emperor's ones with the explanation of rebirth and having an extra 40 years of experience - even then it would be tight enough but at the beginning it worked.
In the novel we reached a part when FL was paralysed but she resolved it to notice BY COINCIDENCE the tons of poisonous plants planted in the garden of her jail and went out paralysed to gather some to make herself back to mobile enough.
This was the point I dropped the novel.
The series is even worse, unbearably dumb for idiots only. There is not even 10 normal minutes between 2 absolute nonsense, even a child who grow up on Andersen (horror for children) would discard it.
I can't give up thinking that, how brainwashed, low IQ and totally useless (in the future) people enjoying it till the level of unjustified hatred and sheepishly using "magic" words like "hater".

AI is just a software, it can be just as intelligent as the people who wrote its code. I don't know the exact process of how they solve this replacing but an AI never would be as good as a person no matter what. I was thinking on a similar problem. Whenever try to translate a Chinese novel first to English then to my mother language (as my English sometimes not sophisticated enough to effortlessly follow every details) the end result is often a complete mess. Where it is the most visible is the sexes, it mix the sexes like him will be her, man will be women or when it is even worse, there are words you use for only man (and this is how you identify that who is "on the screen") or others for woman. If a person translate the story it can follow it hence can translate these well. A software can't because it is not intelligent enough. AI is a made-up stuff. It can be useful (however I doubt it) when you google after things to get a fast result for your question but even then AI knows things "wrongly" or outright lies, hence if the info is important, you still have to re-check it. The worst was when AI identified a poisonous mushroom to be edible or when it tried to explain that Raman spectroscopy can't give back / identify H and O in the case of water because it can handle only molecules while in reality it is to identify atoms but molecules hence just another proof that water is not as simple as we were taught.

Agreed adding that this is just the beginning and hoping that it will carry on like this.

After just 3 episodes, early I know, 7.8 is too low, underrated. I usually don't like modern Chinese dramas, but started this because of the leads, happily recognised a couple of other young actors I saw and liked in another dramas (Kunning Palace, Lost You Forever, Go East). This little drama is entertaining so far, not unrealistic till the level I would get bored, the dialogues are intelligent enough, the awkward/funny situations are not awkward till the level I would like to turn away as being embarrassed, so far the whole stuff is really refreshing.
Someone wrote before that completely understand the FL not having sky-high ambitions but only wanting a comfortable family life where her efforts are appreciated and she is loved, this is exactly how young people "work" or at least worked in reality. Knowledge and ambition usually comes later with the first big disappointments and understanding that financial security is an important factor of life and just how her boss told her, wives can be replaced.
I don't know the original drama (novel) but this whoever wrote the script at least had some brain, rarity nowadays.

Sort of addictive, I watched 7 episodes and it kept my interest however I don't know how long it will. A drama where you wish them to finally discuss the misunderstandings and find a common ground and carry on watching because of this wish. Little spoiler, those who are loved by the FL are all criminals or almost, they either met their end (due to the emperor) or they really should meet. But for FL they are beloved and trusted people and she knows nothing about their criminal acts till the level that unknowingly she fights against them saving their victims (a part of them). To protect her (allegedly) everyone keeps her in the dark while the truth could be painful but also helpful. She is "just" a pawn in the game of politics and gain power but at least her husband treated her with respect and seemingly has feelings for her. Still it must end with tragedy as the biggest opponents are her father and her husband. Could you forgive to any of these for killing the other at the end of the game? What "resolving" could you accept? Absolutely frustrating drama but I somehow enjoy, the leads performance is stellar. If it would be so poorly written than The First Jasmine then at this point a lightning just would kill the father and problem solved, the couple can live happy forever. :)

A decent story, script. This is so bad that I couldn't focus to the romance, leads, because the story itself is unbelievable, a mess, and a sort of brain-washing attempt (demons, posession, etc). Absolute nonsense characters. A man who had no remorse for outcasting his wife and child for 8 years suddenly sees his dead wife as ghost? LOL, how suddenly he found his better self.
A basically young but polyhistor (excelling in everything girl - bad enough, how many girls you saw who were like her in real life?) had bad experience with an animal hence she saw tons of them threatening her but only one (a resembling shadow of something else or whatever), she is simply insane or under the influence of Santa's mushroom. Fear doesn't work like this, I had a bad experience with a black dog as child, it visited me for years as nightmare dreams from time to time, I couldn't go near to any black dogs and thought I never would accept any dogs as companion - but I didn't see / imagine tons! of them chasing me.
The whole series is full with absolute nonsense till the level it is unwatchable - for me. Why I bother is because I am upset, I really waited for this drama and to see Bai Lu and Cheng Lei together, wasted time of mine and theirs and who knows how long I have to wait for a decent drama, maybe years.
It feels like this forum is not for normal people but a playground of bored teenagers with zero life experience. Ratings can't be believed and can't help to pick up a drama - which is really bad. I never seen a group of people in front of the Mona Lisa's painting discuss it based on being haters of fans. Back then I've never seen anyone discussing a movie or a book based on being haters or fans. We just pick one, usually if we didn't like the previous works of an author we chose someone else - this is how I choose a drama, based on I liked the previous works of the leads (at least) or the director. But still a book or movie can be poorly written, executed, etc. It has nothing with hate/love, it is just your SICK world.

Sorry, I don't understand your weird world of being a "fan" or "hater" or whatever. For me watching movies or series or even reading a book is not about to like or hate. Of course I like some actors better than others and I'll always appreciated those with talent and hard work. But still watching a movie or series or reading means I want to be entertained, I want the story to flow well, to grab me and pull it on. Even the best writers has good, better and poor novels. Same with movies.
Something is seriously wrong with you all people who are voting based on personal love, then why just not watch your favourites in shows or as models or whatever. A series purpose to entertain, I am not here for nice faces, I am here for the story what should have been written well and should have grabbed me and this is not the case no matter who are the leads. I never understood this chinese(?) thing to form groups and go into fight with each other based on being "fans", it is not my world whether you understand or not. Sorry I can't recall the exact parts, they come together, there is breakup (sort of), but the romance is not the main or only element. It is a crime, politics, society-criticism, funny sarcasm drama, the first minutes will show you what to expect. Everyone is absolutely grey, very human(ish) with desires, plans, funny personalities or dire ones, I enjoyed it so much I rewatched it at least 3 times. Underrated. There is kissing and bathing together parts but not many.

To me they were very enjoyable, a drama with a decent amount of funny sarcasm, criticism. Indeed rare, I am surprised it survive the accepting process.

Fingers crossed, usually I don't like modern Chinese dramas at all, but for the leads I try to watch this. Overdo and Dancing with the Tide are just so far away, especially the second.

A totally mess nonsense drama wasting 15 hours of my life and after such anticipation I was waiting for it.

Do this magic word "hater" work all the time? If you read my comments you will see that I am not a hater of Bai Lu but a fan, same with Cheng Lei, and feel deeply sorry for them because they can't save this, no matter what. What about the rumour - I read here somewhere - that Bai Lu involved to change the scrip writers? I guess it happened too late if true.
