Ep16 "reveal" scene does remind me of those 80s Taiwan Hokkien soap operas that my mom used to watch religiously on TV. The characters are so over the top, screaming , crying, with fake lighting in the background , I can't help but chortle 😅 at the dramatic silliness of it all.

I like the FL in P. O.Jade, i think she carried the show but finally after 8 episodes, this drama has collapsed my "suspension of disbelief" force field i.e. resistance is futile. A poop collector who is struggling to survive in life after 5 days can turn into a refined noble lady without being detected by the MLs family ladies? I mean even Professor Higgins needed months to transform Eliza into a fair lady.

My sentiments exactly. No need to show all the people passing off, we know that will happen. I would have prefered if the show has gone more on how the ML discovered Shen Lan identity and how the couple resolve it explicitly and maybe clear the Shen family name. It could have ended at 41 or 42. No need for sister Du to make a comeback either.

Unfortunately for me, the couldn't stick a perfect landing. It was still ok but no where near the quality of the earlier episodes. 9/10 up to 2/3rd of the drama and then 8.3ish after that. The remaining arcs felt rushed and not because of the time slips. For me the first arc featuring Du(flower pin and poisoning) was much better thought out and longer. Du was much more cunning than the rematch which was a damp squid for me. TKO in the first round. LX didn't even sweat at all.

Yeah. Didn't happen that way in reality. After he was freed by the Mongols(Woko in the drama), the replacement emperor put him under house arrest for 6 years I think. It took another coup by the ministers for him to be reinstated.
