I know Xiguang's & Zhang Xu's scenes were suppose to be serious, empathizing , sad or/and angry but I could not stop laughing because of the taxi driver. He was very invested in the tea in the background.
I love the FL and ML’s chemistry! I love how they are together without any confessions or anything similar—like denial, internal battles of acceptance, etc. That said, I hate their kisses. Why are the kisses so… dry? Platonic? Wall kisses? I don’t know. It’s like I’m not looking forward to them the way I do with other on-screen couples. Maybe this is the first fictional/on-screen couple where I don’t want to see them kissing, but instead want to see other things, like holding hands, etc.
This drama is just Moonlight Mystique in different fonts and sizes especially with the Kunlun mirror and side characters dying. (That does not mean I am not enjoying it . Ready to cry already.)

This is just my assumption about what happened. I have two theories.
Original Plot: Haitang finishes her tuitions and meets Xun on the footpath as usual. They see her father on the scooter carrying digging tools. The FL was already suspicious that he had harmed her mother, and we can assume (or not) that he did not notice the couple on the road. They follow him on their cycle to the mountain, where they encounter the hired goon and the father.
First Theory: The father had not yet dug up the dead body. When he saw the couple, she confronted him about her mother’s whereabouts. The father then ordered the goon to kill them as they have become a threat and he knows she will eventually connect the dots. Then he escapes, may in the boat or not.
Second Theory: The father had already dug up the body and loaded it into the boat. The FL did not notice the sack, or even if she did, she wasn’t bothered because she still believed at that time that her mother was alive. Even in the future timeline, we see that some part of her still believed her mother might be alive, despite it being highly unlikely. So she confronted her father at the mountain about her mother’s whereabouts. The father ordered the goon to kill them and escaped on the boat.
She sensed something was wrong with her mother in the alternate timeline only , as she found her mother’s hair clip on the road. She was a smart woman. Her mother had gone missing years ago, so why would the clip still be lying on the road? Earlier, she had also seen her father carrying digging tools. At the mountain, he had a sack with him - she connected the dots.
In the original timeline, they were on a cycle, so she did not notice the clip. She only found the clip in the alternate timeline because she was on foot, as Xun had gone to the postbox to collect the letter.
Xun killed the goon in self defense . Haitang kept saying the original timeline 'He came to kill us' , 'We are innocent'
As on why the father kills...He is an evil man. He killed his wife, he tortures his daughter daily for money. He did not even pay respect when his own mother died. Even in the future you can see how evil he is in that car scene (I personally wanted to push him into a volcano contain boiling lava after that scene). He might have even murdered the old Haitang. So he has no reason to not to kill Haitang in that scene.
So disappointed with the ending .. they rushed it. Instead of giving answer it left u with more questions.. ye…

So by the time, the FL and ML met at the mountains with the villains , the body was out. Otherwise, they both would have reached the site before the assh*le dug up the body (As Tang Yi Xun had his cycle). Hence no mention of the sack in the original future as there was no sack to begin with.
I don't think Shen Cheng is Ye haitang 's birth son as he is the one who receives the letter in the end. I believe the writers took out that part to give that emotional touch in the end and to remove the cliche that 'the both kids are adopted and they never loved anyone else'. So they implied it rather than presenting it as a scene or as an open ending.
As for Yu Nian, i think the cat deity protected her or gave her a proper life - her last scenes in the drama were filled with cats everywhere (again implied by the writers - not explicitly said )
As for the final closure, I think it has to do with the Chinese censorship with the time travel stuff. I think they found loop holes and showed this much otherwise the writers would have been forced to change the story and make it look like the future alternation never happened or would have to change the story line/genre completely like MANY MANY other dramas (to name a few Yummy yummy yummy , When destiny brings the demon, Summit of our youth, the prisoner of beauty , Love Game in Eastern Fantasy, etc)
I think this is the best story they could have given us with the circumstances otherwise they would have made everything Yu Nian's and Shen Cheng's dream or the kids trying to find the FL's mother's body from the past and killing off Ye yibo in the future. Something like that but then the whole vibe of the drama would have been different. This is the best output in my opinion.
How dare you kill that poor bird !! it was only trying to protect her baby... The mother would have just fled with the baby without harming anyone but they would have lost their evidence But now by killing the bird , the evidence is lost anyway. AT LEAST bring some justification for the kill.. like 'The mother was trying to protect her child while the prince is trying to save his love and one side has to loose' something like that... but no .. I am devastated .. Poor Birdie ..Burned to death because some ugly noodles bearded guy wanted to be the King's father in law
BTW.. i love the actor in DOTS and he looked really good in that.. but in this he looks UGLY
I don't get the ending nor do I understand the movie .. Why is the alive triplet after Wong and He also in the end? The Fu guy is the one who killed both his brothers .... And Why is he so unnecessarily evil?? Why kill your own god children?? Then he had the audacity to be sad!! The first twin is like 'next life , I wish you were my dad' like DUDE!! He just killed you!!! Then the emotional phone call 😒😒😒..'He is a dad' He is just killed one of his own and its public knowledge 😑😑😑 He came back and killed the second twin and that moron told him the password as he was dying!! HE JUST KILLED YOUR GE AND YOURSELF!!! So many plotholes !!
The movie would have been a lot better if they toned down his evilness and an actual bond was shown between the shadow gang instead of just flashbacks. Otherwise , the gang should have been oblivious of his selfish nature. Like the gang should not have known he killed the first twin and the second twin should have been killed by the good guys and as he was dying he should told the villain the password. Why would both the twins help the villain after he MURDERS them ? Both of the deaths were intentionally and completely avoidable!
I am not a native. I watched the subbed version in one of the kisskh sites. So maybe things got lost in translation or my subs were very poor that I understood the conversations and story differently? Kindly correct me if I am wrong
