Okay, after watching episode 4 I have finally made a decision. I will ignore this as canon. To me the adaptation…
I agree with you! At least in ReminderS they took the LBC cast and gave them new characters with different names and did a 180 with their personalities and their position (dominant/passive) in their couple relationship. That was jarring but at least you could wrap your head around it and disassociate yourself from that set of characters over the ones in LBC. This one is so confusing. An alternate reality. Disappointing thus far...

After an almost unbearable episodes 8 &9, the last two episodes have recovered nicely with more straightforward stories and Marwin actually being likable. The story for Episode 11 is especially good as it returns back to the simple and cute episode storyline that made the early episodes good. My only gripes are that Jeff Satur’s (Marwin) acting was a bit stiff through the early parts of the episode and I wish that they would play up the cooking preparation a bit more like they did in the early episodes. I know they use the supplementary videos on YouTube to show Top /Gameplay’s cooking process but a bit of a teaser here would be nice - after all it is a commercial. Overall, a very good episode and it’s nice to see the underlying tension taking a PG level step up.

Review The Shipper
Very good review of the series! Thanks!

I think they killed Kim off because as a simple way to end the series. If they allowed both Pan and the real Kim to exists at the end they’d have to build a story arc around Kim having to figure out all that Pan did while she was in his body. That by itself would be a series on its own. The teaser at the end could be that he gets reincarnated (which would be weird as there’s a Catholic premise to the show with the Angel of Death and the Catholic iconography and church scenes) or they have an alternate ending reality where he does come back to life. Either way it wouldn’t make for a good series.

Finally some depth and character development! Maybe the build up of Win characterized as a spoiled brat (as he was in the 1st part of this episode and the previous 3) has a point with Tops helping him from become a better person through these next few episodes. I also like the fact that they moved away from the previous formulaic template for the food parts. This time it was blended well into the storyline and actually has symbolic meaning, rather than a n almost forced add on at the start in more recent episodes. With an additional 12 episodes this added depth could make this an interesting watch again.

What a disappointing episode... the episode formatting of the series is getting tiresome and when they don’t significantly tie the cooking, which what makes this series unique, with the rest of the storyline of the episode then it falls flat. This episode is an example of that.

Episode 9 doesn’t really advance Marwin and Top’s relationship in any way. Marwin eating more vegetables is the main revelation of the episode?!?! Very disappointing considering that this is the penultimate episode of the series. If that’s the centering piece of the episode then play it up! Have Martin’s friends tease him more about it to lead to a more awkward tension which could maybe lead into a confession.

Additionally, Marwin is getting very irritating. I hate how their portraying him more like a spoiled kid with Tops as his servant to do his bidding. I guess that’s a bit of his character but I wish they would develop Marwin into less of an ass and grow his relationship with Tops, like he was in the middle episodes when he was taking care of Tops when he was sick and when he was helping him with his cooking show. As I’ve mentioned, the writers have lost their way in these last few episodes with not meaningfully weaving Tops’ cooking or Marwin’s music into these last episodes.

Praying for a good final episode!
