TL;DR: It's a complicated issue, because HK is only the tip of the iceberg (which has already been proven multiple times to be CIA backed), then Taiwan gets tied in, then it leads to talks of the major events like KMT vs CPC and Tiananmen Square. Every Chinese has their own biases on those issues, it all depends on what their lineages involvement in it was

Regarding ownership of HK, it should've been China's to begin with, but the west (Brits) already did a number on the HK population by making them self hating spineless ppl (making their books view Chinese as lower, making them wave other countries flags for help etc).

Now with the whole protests, it's CIA backed. In practice, anywhere that chooses the "democracy" label has proven to be a joke. The U.S. already proved it, India has proved it, UK has proved it, it's a never ending cycle. The democracy label is used to appeal to the naive general population, but we have seen what they do for 'democracy' (hint hint, America has basically brainwashed their people, as you can see from the previous convos, to avoid their past and ongoing crimes, but they like to point fingers at other countries to destabilize them and conquer them for their "democracy" regime). Also, they claim to be peaceful riots, but this is a site where it shows all the violence they've induced

Don't worry, if you ever get to visit Xinjiang for yourself, you can see that most of the stuff that the west says is simply not true (in fact, that's how most people changed their view on China). Don't trust the west regarding Uyghurs, they detain them in the most inhumane place in the U.S. (Guantanamo Bay).

I respect Muslims, I feel bad that they are being used by people who don't care for their well beings. I'll check out those videos! I suggest you check out Malcolm X, he's a black Muslim and was a great speaker that spoke about the struggles of living in the west that still happens today (sad that he was assassinated, I know his views changed after taking the Hajj to Mecca)

I used to be indoctrinated with western propaganda myself, but my fellow Chinese outside of the U.S. woke me up from stuff like the CIA funded HK riots and Uyghurs. It's embarrassing to see people spitting western propaganda, when the west is known for causing unrest

This is more of a pro-China standpoint. I tell people to take anti-China perspectives with a grain of salt, because all of the Uyghur issues have been disproven because they're all plugged to one guy (Adrian Zenz).
