Hilarious

Yes it is butt touching. Now get over it.

This drama is hilarious. I enjoy it partly because I just shut off my brain, knowing if I want something realistic I will just go to work and buy groceries. There are quite many deaths for a comedy but the mystery is appealing and difficult to guess.
Our main characters are well played; Bong is sweet natured and Detective is bad tempered, opposite attracts. I have seen enough Lee Min Ki playing stoic characters so a rude annoying dude is something different, although his skin is still so glowing and perfect for an overworked detective.
Although the romance is subtle it touches my teenage romance dream: A tsundere and a puppy eyed girl reluctantly work together to solve a mystery. I go gyaa gyaaa internally.

I love it so much I wish I hadn't watched it

so I could watch it again for the first time and feel all the feelings all over again. The gradual friendship between the two characters is beautiful and funny. These are two kids growing up to be young adults, trying to be a crutch for each other and you would ship them together right off the bat. The girl is brave and honest with her feelings and has the "whatever I'll do it so what" attitude that you root for her. The boy is amused by this attitude and doesn't hide it a bit. He is more complex than the popular party boy facade he shows through his live shows. The classmates are hilarious. No one is evil and every one is human.

It's about friendship, youth love, forbidden love, family love, dreams, rejection, acceptance, and be in peace with who you are.

The music is GREAT and fitting. I have them in a loop on Spotify. Never thought I'd like anything from Coldplay before this.

SPOILER and my thoughts on it starting here:

No one dies. Ok good.
The ending makes me sigh in relieve albeit still with a tad of heartache. Well, what can I say, there are many kinds of happy ending.
I understand why he can't love her the way she wants him to and I love how he is honest with her and himself about it. Is he gay? Yes I'd like to think that he is and that's why we never hear the voice of his ex nor see the face. I mean, he's very very very cute and I wish the girl gets him but he is so lovable that I'm glad he is happy in his own right by the end of the movie. I also understand her disappointment but relieved that she accepts it eventually and walks her own path.

At least they kiss. A good one too at that.

I would love to rewatch it but I'm not ready yet.

Breathtaking

Breathtaking is maybe a gross exaggeration, but this series is really good. I don't do analytic essays for reviews and I'm shallow. It took me a while to finally watch it because the ML is not handsome according to my taste. So here are some of the things I like:
1. Uncle Wuzhu is the hottest uncle ever. Please don't take off the eyefold so my illusion is not shattered.
2. Fan Xian is loved by many and has so many father figures. He is doted by all his 'dads'.
3. Wan'er seems weak and blah but she has strong attitude. Love it.
4. The fighting background music is not only for physical fights; it is also used during the crazy poem night. Awesome use of music.
5. Zhang Ruoyun is not the handsomest man but he sure can play a dokidoki-inducing boyfriend.
6. Fan Xian is always one step ahead.
7. Just as you feel bored with the identity game with Wan'er, the story levelled up. Phew.
8. I'm shipping Ruoruo and Hot Uncle Wuzhu. They are both levelheaded and straight arrows, although Uncle Wuzhu acts like an android.
9. Season 2 is already out so I don't have to wait for 5 years like the early viewers.

Hate love relationship

I'm all for hate to love stories. I enjoy the banters between the main characters. The FL acting feels so...modern, if that makes sense? I feel like much of her gestures and facial expressions are something that I would do too if I was given the same lines and situations. She is an unguarded but self-reliant woman, nothing annoyingly weak. He is caught off guard with his wife's drastic change of character and needs to step up his trick game to face this new personality. Naturally some scenes are silly and many loopholes but so far I really enjoy this show. I have watched 11 episodes non stop and now I have to go to sleep, unfortunately.

EDIT AFTER FINISHING THE SERIES: I WANT SECOND SEASON ALREADY. That's it. That's the edit.

"I was wrong about you. I thought you pretended to be broke. You are actually broke."

Xiao Se spews gems like this all the time. His lines are full of dry humour delivered in a deadpannest deadpan. He and Lei Wenjie are either always lost or broke, despite being a prince and a general's son. In the beginning, Xiao Se loses one layer of his expensive clothing everytime they get to a new place because he has to sell them to fund their travel. He might have to travel naked had they not reach their destination. Eventually they do reach the Xenyue city (?), but three months behind schedule thanks to Xiaojie's terrible sense of direction.

I haven't finished this series but I have snorted some laughs many times. There are some sad moments too. But the camaraderie of these young people keeps me glued to the tiny screen of my smartphone. I will update when I finish it.

OH AND BEAUTIFUL MEN. The male casts are way more beautiful than their female counterparts. My favourites are Xiao Se and the Tao Sword Deity, and Daddy Spear deity. And of course Wuxin. The prettiest bald boy. I still can't accept that he is supposed to be 17. More like 17 going on 35. Still pretty tho.

Definitely worth watching

The only thing that stopped me from watching it in one go was because I had to go to work and make a living. The story telling is gripping and at 12 episodes, it packs enough meat that it never drags. The characters make you doubt your judgment; is someone really that good or bad, or is there something behind their facade? You will care about every one, including the minor characters. The acting is superb. It's a very satisfying show.

There is no romance, just hints here and there, and oh my, Oh Jung Sae, never thought I would ever be saying this, but you delivered one attractive ajusshi. At some point I was just hoping Hae Sang and San Yeong would get together. Of course, there's the young and bitter detective Hong Sae who never smiles, but I can see my younger teenage self crushing on him in high school. And then there's San Yeong who looks dishevelled most of the time. Kim Tae Ri really did well with this character; broken and cornered but still has a fighting spirit.

Overall, watch it. You won't regret.

It is an exciting watch

I should change my handle to "Shallow&Vain" because when Uhm Tae Goo is just so fiiiiine to watch and hear. Quite a leap from his usual noir projects but he delivers, with extra sharp jawline and cheekbones on the side.
This show has all the cliché you can think of but served in a very entertaining way, not boring at all.

All the couples are interesting to watch. How they end up as couples is a joy to watch. I was a bit worried about Mi Ho's arc that she would be a lovestruck girl but no, early on it is shown that Mi Ho is an independent woman with sensibility and I am beyond satisfied to see how she deals with her situation.

There is nothing much to analyse but so much to enjoy.
