They had to for that Netflix money, you didn't hear it from me tho
That's actually a very interesting point. So, TVN had the broadcast rights to air first in Korea, but Netflix would release internationally the same day (see link below).

Also, the production company that created the drama, Studio Dragon, is partnered with Netflix.

I think Netflix definitely invested, had some kind of directional input, and is making money on this drama.

We should check the credits and see if anyone from Netflix is listed as some kind of producer, director, or consultant.

So true! Every Netflix funded Kdrama has had to have a dose of something culturally inappropriate. The Glory, Attorney Woo, et al.

The character is a brute, a bully, a thief and a murderer... He had a too good ending. I watched the actor in…
He's someone who had to fight for every little thing. Like he said, if he had ever given up, he would be dead. He never had love or acceptance from his family. She was the only one. Of course he fought like a crazy person to keep that one little glimmer of love. I didn't get the bully vibe off him. But to each their own :)

I meant before that last episode. When he lost everything including hope... yeah that was sad and the end of everything.

wasnt yang ling the one who initiated investigation of the tea smuggling? it doesnt seems too logical for him…
Oh, the king was suspicious. But when there is a powerful chancellor and evidence of a crime, what could he do. He has to follow the law too.

It's not surprising with everything he went through. I really thought he was redeemable. He just needed some good influences and a reason to get on the good side again. He adored the heroine and would have done literally anything for her. That's my kind of hero.

I love the second male lead, his passionate affection for the female lead was intense. I understand he was not…
He was fantastic! The actor did such an amazing job showing a wide range of emotion. I really want to see him in a drama with a similar character but he gets the girl.

I am thinking of watching this drama, do tell me how is it ? well ratings and reviews are already saying that…
There is a lovely romance, it is a secondary storyline but still very well done.

The king and queen are more friends than lovers. And there is lots of political intrique and mother-in-law drama.

The mother and sons' relationship is definitely the star.

Trigger warning spoilers!!!

There is one son who is a transvestite. Which was not my cup of tea so I tried to ignore it as much as possible.

There was an attempted suicide.

A minor character was raped and was helped by the main character. It was only mentioned. Never shown.

There are multiple concubines who vie for power and influence.

There is a really sad death of a character but the story does end happy.
