I think it was his first movie and Super 8 is his 2nd last. Anyway, train scene is really awesome! Movie is also very good for most of parts...not OMG kind of good but easily a hit for me.
You should watch that scene now...'IF' I remember it right then that train scene is not spoilerish :)

I never saw original series. Planning to but first I need to watch original Star Wars series. I saw both old & new but old at very young age and I can't remember at all.

Abrams' MI 3 was so-so but I really liked his Super 8. Especially there is an amazing train crash sequence.
