Following worked for me to convert 3 friends...guys:
Recommended from my favourites, and a few of their picks.
#1 + Evasive Inquiry Agency, Giant, Salaryman, Legal High, Reply 1988, Gianna Jun movies - Heirs (he watched it on his own after EIA - I banned him to explore until he was done with my suggestions), Gianna's alien drama
#2 + Gianna Jun movies, Son Ye-jin movies and he (and 4-5 of his friends as well) was ready (he was a movie guy like me)
#3 + Giant, Salaryman, Reply 1988, Age of Youth, Gianna's alien drama + a few anime - Cheese in the Trap
In short: Guys, start with Gianna Jun's movies. Other than these 3, I can recall more than 4-5 guys who have started watching East Asian cinema or at least tried after watching Gianna Jun.
I assume that you said 'fucking rich country' because of box-office collection compared to others, right? I think those numbers are somewhat correlated with population. 1.2 billion vs 50-100 million.
I see that those dramas that are described as good, makes people cry. Why?
It's the other way around. They make people cry that's why they are described as good. Inducing emotions in people or forming attachment is an achievement IMO.
So I just came across a little old Hindi beautiful stuff on Youtube. It says it was sung by Koreans! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wjIa0NLQI0&feature=sharehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIj6P0KBQxYhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2NZPTY8egw
lol their pronunciation of Hindi is better than mine :D
Another ----wood: Dhollywood - GujaratiSome good modern Gujarati films are:Gujjubhai the GreatKevi Rite JaishChhello…
It's almost always shit. Only recently their films have changed a little bit. Still a lot of old-fashioned films. Now there are more modern stories so it got my attention. Usually people outside Gujarat don't notice them. A couple of years ago a Dhollywood film was official entry of India for the Oscars. That's it.
