There were so many elements that were missing in the 2nd part of the story that I decided to incorporate my version like how Tantai Jin got the Jade amulet back and traveled to the Weeping Ghost River. TTJ dark character would not bypass the strict censorship in China. Luckily, there's the radio drama & manhua that follows the book which don't share the same restrictions. For me, the radio drama version of the tower sequence is far superior than the one in the book.

In the book, the heartless path was misinterpreted by Susu during the 2nd act. It helped her accept her experience and learned to acknowledge her feelings, including that fateful day. I do wish the immortal & demon act retained the number of episodes in the previous license to explore more the heartless way and Susu's destiny
