Hey sweeties!

I'm currently living in China, so I'm chiefly interested in C-dramas for improving my meager language skills and keeping myself up to date, so to speak. 

My favourite genre is wuxia, even though I do enjoy well-made xianxia dramas as well.

I absolutely love Chinese BLs.

My favourite Chinese dramas:

1. The Untamed. This is simply a masterpiece. Period.

The gesture that changed oh so many lives!

2. Joy of Life (Season 1). Like, what is this? Why is this so good? It's the best palace drama I've ever seen, it really shows the potential of the genre. Witty dialogues, good villains and a main character who surprises you time and again make this drama a pure joy. 

 The screentime that's given to older characters in this show is such a huge win. I freaking LOVE the emperor.

3. Word of Honor. Like, I have a serious Wen Kexing addiction. Gong Jun and the fan and this red eyeliner ... boooy. 

Please come and kill me, Chief of Ghost Valley!

4. Mysterious Lotus Casebook. I really like Cheng Yi and the bromance in this one was spot on. 

This was FUN!

Special mention: Eternal Love. That was my second C-drama after Eternal Love of Dream. While I have the feeling that now I wouldn't enjoy it as much as I did back then, it's the reason why I kept watching C-dramas. I really was into Ye Hua back then.

By the way, I really need a sequel about these two, erm, "好朋友". What on earth are they doing in the peach forest all the time? I want all the details.

My favourite characters:

⚠️ I will NOT point out the obvious ones like Fan Xian (omg WHO IS this guy), Wen Kexing and Lan Zhan. 

1. Xie Wei (Zhang Linghe) in Kunning Palace. I mean, he's batshit crazy, but he's hot. But he's batshit crazy, let's admit it, although he is hot ... He's ... whatever. Hell yes, I do enjoy walking red flags in drama land.

"A saint is useless, you need a batshit crazy fellow like myself."

2. Li Lianhua (Cheng Yi) in Mysterious Lotus Casebook. The way he just wants to let go and die? Amazing. I feel like I can actually learn something from him. He's an experienced and smart cutie pie.

"I just want to thank all those who've destroyed me into the person I am today." 

3. Xiao Se (Li Hongyi) in The Blood of Youth. He's arrogant, spoiled and rich. He travels with an invisible wardrobe, it seems, and talks about how expensive his clothes are and how much he can afford and the others cannot all the time. His favourite gesture is the good old facepalm, which he uses extensively and in a very elegant and refined manner. 

I'd hate him in real life. But yeah, he's fun.

The Blood of Youth. Also called: The Prince and his EMBARRASSING friends.

Besides, I absolutely adore his outfits. Like, seriously? If Xiao Se ever ran out of money, I think he should work for one of these online shopping websites, selling gorgeous looking clothes.

Most anticipated dramas of 2025: Immortality 🤡 Justice in the Dark, Go to the Mountains and Sea, Zang Hai Zhuan

 Review of 2024:

Favourite drama: The Spirealm. Damn, didn't expect such an engaging story. 

Favorite OST: Fangs of Fortune. Many good songs. 

Favourite song: 借过一下 by Zhou Shen, Joy of Life 2. Damn, the lyrics. The beginning?! LOVE Zhou Shen.

Most memorable moment: The marquis letting his sweetheart go in Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. He could have kept her for himself and ignored her wishes, but he actually took this damn bracelet off her wrist. The way he told her everything's alright and she can go, no problem, while his eyes were teary all along. Then off she went and he just broke down. That was so cute and incredible. Sweetheart, don't cry, you're the real hero!
