I ran here after finishing ep 8, to rant about the incredibly hot kiss and instead i find a hot pile of garbage... I can't comprehend why are people so dramatic and demanding apology after a simple portrayal of an Arab prince in one episode. I understand how it feels to have your culture shown in a bad light in a TV show, but seriously... you all need to chill. This is a simple rom com fictional show, it does not portray anything as it really is in the world - their own culture included... No one watching this will take the portrayal of the prince to heart and think "Wow, now I know what these people are all like..." I've seen so many portrayals of different cultures throughout the years... asian, european, american... sometimes they hit.. othertimes they miss (f.e. Emily in Paris and the portrayal of French people...). How about the Black Panther and their portrayal of Koreans by non Korean actors who did not even attempt to sound remotely Korean? These things happened, happen now and will happen for everyone. Don't ruin the drama for others, demanding directors or actors to apologize over a small rom com fictional character. Maybe a laugh and a simple "Wow what a dumb way to portray our people." would suffice.
i agree she's typecasting herself but "its almost always Lu Si in the newer dramas" what do u want her to do...…
True, the last three chinese dramas that i was interested in were Love for a thousand years, Love better than immortality and this one now.. so it seemed like i unintentionally always bumped into her. Also, she looks the same in almost any drama I see her in, which mixes it up for me later...
Kristin Also her character and playing in the resent "Love for a thousand years" (or killing of a thousand crows)…
I really liked the original princess in Love for a thousand years and then BAM, Lu Si once again. I dont know maybe I am biased but I just find her way of acting and her face and her voice too childish and comedic and I dont necessary like that in chinese dramas these days.
I was looking forward to this drama, but then i saw Zhao Lu Si as the female lead and I just lost interest. I do respect her as a talented actress, but there has been just way too much of her around for my taste - and her role is usually the same - first 20 episodes silly, "funny", bit dumb annoying girl and then suddenly smart, badass, melancholic chic fighting for her love. Seen that too many times... im kinda tired of it. there are so many other chinese actresses that are great for these wuxia, fantasy, romance dramas, but its almost always Lu Si in the newer dramas.... am I the only one?
I just rewached Eternal Love after finishing this just to make sure... Eternal Love left me in tears once again. Eternal Love of Dream did not. I was waiting patiently for many years for this drama and I can say that I finished it just for the sentimental value. To be honest, the mortal realm in the first half was waaaaay dragged out. It could have taken a few nice, turbulent, heartbreaking episodes... instead it took forever, i was cringing for it to be over, because it was just too long. The same with the dream of Aranya... cool stuff, but why should I watch repetitive story for almost 20 episodes...???? I can say that there were at least incredibly sweet moments between Donghua and Fengjiu, that kept me going.... After I finally made it out of the dream and I hoped for the good stuff, the grand finale, the heartbreak... I was so disaappointed... measely two episodes of some fine, tearjerking stuff and the end. I understand that they went based off the book... but the pacing in books and in tv adaptations must be different... im so sad i didnt like it
I cried almost every single episode. Never happened to me before. I would laugh and cry and i couldn't stop no matter what. this drama gave me so many feels i just could not handle it. and i can with absolutely pure heart say that this is the best thing ive ever seen. and dont get me started on the OST... im still too emotional...
This drama was pretty great. I love the gaming theme, because to this very day me and my friends actually play Lineage 2, which is MMORPG similar to the Chinese Ghost Story.. So naturally it made me really excited.
First of all I didn't like the all too perfect Xiao Nai - with girls fawning over him constantly - its not realistic and not my thing... Wei Wei was too boring and naive and innocent for me . Er Xi's character was much more enjoyable. WeiWei was just absolutely perfect all the damn time... again, absolutely unrealistic and mostly annoying.
Lastly... i had to pause watching this several times, to grab something to eat because WeiWei's skeleton figure made me hungry all the time. For me personally, it looked like she was about to die any second from starvation. Her chopstick legs and twiggy arms...
