I think he really had no idea that manager would go to the assassin to kill him. The rest kinda happened on its own. He did know about Su Wuming's intelligence and was sure that they'd help him to set Leng Ji's marriage up.

Agreed. Just finished it now. It has shorter episodes than other Chinese dramas yet the story dragged a lot after 19th episode. The pace is completely off. They could've just finished the story within 20 episodes with a tighter script and a bit longer duration. They missed the mark completely. Can't lie though, I really enjoyed the spicy scenes between the leads in the beginning. It was a guilty pleasure of mine 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Honestly I'm not surprised at all! This drama lost it's charm for me after episode 13! Right now I'm more interested in the upcoming drama "How Dare You!?" with Cheng Lei and Wang Chu Ran as lead. That drama has more potential to become a great watch than this one. The donghua is hilarious ASF!

I think it's a flashback scene. You can see Wang Ziqi's character wearing the same dress he did in the beginning while he first interacted with the rest of the crew. And he is quite reserved compared to the later episodes where he pretty much got very comfortable around them.
