It got cancelled at 12 episodes instead of 16. They rushed to finish the story before the main lead had to go to the military service. Overall, the production was a mess and they had to cover their loss.

Are you talking about the female supporting character who has multiple boyfriends?? She's so hot and charismatic. She's the ultimate winner in this series. She toyed with the male lead cuz he's a wuss and needed to be used to grow up. Hot people rock. I don't like not hot people.

It's a fair ending. Any other ending too good would be a sell out. Too bad and audiences will whine. But this is sad but happy, satisfying but wanting. It's a very fair ending and I'm very satisfied.

Use your common sense. Based on current or near future reality, N and S Korea won't reconcile. There is no good ending. However, this KDRAMA provided an innovating and interesting ending. Worth it? YES. Is it a good ending? Yes and No. Is it a bad ending? No but perhaps Yes. It's a good compromise.

Dropped after episode 4. I can't empathize with the characters. The story isn't my cup of tea either.
I don't like army stuff and I suffered the first 2 episodes. It gets better and eventually turned out to be a classic with incredible acting. But I agree, the theme can be hit or miss based on audience taste. I actually dropped after the first 20 to 30 minutes. the army stuff was hella boring. Came back after a month little by little. Then binged the last 10 episodes cuz they were excellent.
