From what i've read , i think you are watching it wrong, "I have a soft spot for crime/mystery dramas. A good one can make me ponder for days. ", in your list the only one that fits this category would be Mad Dog, but i didn't watch that one, so i can't judge, i'm not realy a fan of this genre. The plot is not the point for most of this dramas, so if it's not something absurd, just ignore it . The only one i could agree on in your list is FMW, there was nothing going on for me in this drama, and i don't undrestand why you mentioned The Bride of Habaek, but it was not on the list ? The only one as deserving as The Bride of Habaek of that list would be The Liar and His Lover. And you mention repetition as a flaw(wich normally is), but you liked 38 squad, that was an OK drama, but it is basically a conning playbook, wouldn't repetition be a greater flaw on a plot driven drama ?
I am an anime fan, and the skepticism was not about the language, since i´m not a english speaker that is not a problem for many years now, but the thought of "there's no way they can do it with people and be good", I kind of liked Switch Girl, and realy i realy subestimated Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo, than, I was already used to hear japonese, and thought "korean sound weird", now I even listen to kpop.
Near 100 dramas already, not addicted at all.
