Friends

On Ossan's Love Returns Mar 10, 2024
This revival came out of nowhere and skyrocketed its way into one of my favorite BLs in the history of ever.

The heartfelt nature of this reboot cannot be understated. Domestic bliss? The navigation between different types of family relationships? Supportive friends? Newlyweds learning to live together, communicate and work to build their own definition of happiness? It was so well done.

Maki x Haruta forever. I loved this.

So he kisses the dog and the dog turns to a naked woman with his lips still on her .How would that look ?
It would look weird - which is why they shouldn't have made it a thing in previous scenes?? it's not hard to make a decision about how you want the world 'logic' to work, just keep it consistent.

This is what happens when you take audience for granted just like GOT. When the show writers overestimate themselves…
I agree with you on how they should have split this - this season feels very "middle book syndrome"
However - I disagree about Cha Hyun Soo's characterization being apathetic - the whole point is that he an individual who actually cares the most. He's my favourite, smol sad bean and current hyperfixation so I can't let this go. Spoilers below.

For example in both season one, and the webtoon, show his growth and concern about other people corresponding with his desire to live (he was going to kill himself prior to the apocalypse) and internal battles/compromise with his monster self as growth throughout season one eventually giving into his monster form to save some Green Home people. The first season is about his returning faith in humanity during a crisis, after being severely bullied to the point of being a recluse suicidal shut-in.

AND, the first three episodes of this season are about him willingly turning himself in for a "cure"... to the point of manifesting the ability to empathize and almost establish a psychic bond with monsters. So, although his human relationship with Yi-Kyung may have been surface level, I think he's crying because of the physic-emotional link between his monster form and her monster form, who is in agony. Less about their relationship as people. I mean, the end scene is human Hyun-soo checking out because of the emotional pain he's in - where monster Hyun-Soo has to take over.

So, I can't agree with that one point. I hope that season three can meet all our expectations and our opinions of how they handled this season can be reviewed in the full context of all three acts.

This show doesn't follow it's own world logic. If they are naked after their transformation back to human, keep it consistent, don't change it for moments of convenience!!

That end of ep 8 scene though 👀👀👀

Title Sweet Home Season 2 Spoiler
I am in agreement with a lot of the comments here that state that this season felt uneven in delivery. Episodes…
Also - they did Yi-Kung's characterization seriously dirty in this season.

Title Sweet Home Season 2 Spoiler
I am in agreement with a lot of the comments here that state that this season felt uneven in delivery. Episodes 1-3 were very good, 4-6 were pretty mid, and 7-8 built momentum back again. This season felt as if it suffered a bit from Middle Book Syndrome. It pulls at parts from Sweet Home Webcomic, and it's prequel Shotgun Boy, but it really should be viewed as it's own entity at this point.

SPOILERS AHEAD.

Additionally - I didn't dislike the introduction of new side characters, I just wish I understood what the narrative at the shelter was building towards. I suppose we will find out when season three airs, and I hope I won't be disappointed with all the groundwork they laid in S2 at that time. I did like some of the soliders - so I hope they survive their run in with Monster Humans lead by Lee Jin Wook.

Likewise, I didn't hate that some of the characters finished their narratives - as long as the impact was meaningful. That's where the strength in episodes 1-3 lay.

I'm wondering if some of the screentime of our Greenhome leads was due to scheduling conflicts. Song Kang is in My Demon which was probably filmed around the same time, and Park Gyu Young is in Good Day to Be a Dog. That may explain the gaps.
