I literally watched this because Shin Se Kyung is absolutely stunning, but this drama just didn't do it for me.…
Agreed, she is just so beautiful! But the roles she gets, ugh.

Though the manhwa is really good, the drama is not based on that. They just used that god's name and thats all. But…
1. If You are an ADULT and you take to heart, AN ONLINE COMMENT, then guess who has a problem. Your words, not mine.

2. Since you LOVE talking about your miserable life and your miserable country's problems so much, I gave you an easy to understand comparison. The fact that you can't even understand that speaks to volumes why your country has problems. It's citizens doesn't even THINK to question people in higher power, just accept it cause the people in charge of it says its okay? Your words, not mine.

3. Dude this is a drama review website not a website to better the world. Maybe you are a little lost, I can help direct you to donation or political websites that can HELP you in your savior like mentality of bettering this world. You aren't making much difference on this website. Like you aren't making your country BETTER at all.

4. I do hope you too find a purpose in life and that most things matter more in life than JUDGING people all day on the internet. Maybe, idk, Devote it to BETTERING your country?

5. I still want that criticism on why this drama is good in your opinion.

I AM prepared to be criticized. I gave my opinion on why it is not a good drama and instead of criticizing my points, you instead criticize my name and my account as if that will make the drama any better. Like really dude? The least you can do is make counter arguments about why the chemistry is good or the plotline or etc. That is proper criticism of my opinion. Not these vague sentences. THEN, we can have a proper conversation about this drama.

And please, don't act like a good person then DISMISS my opinions and emotions (wtf is "only people in showbiz takes dramas seriously"). This manwha is special to me. I read it growing up as a little asian girl in a western world where I only knew about european or american things. This manwha introduced me back to my asian roots and lit a fire in me to explore and learn more about the many different asian cultures and history. Just because the people in power agreed on the specifics does not make it okay. I wonder if you take the same stance when it comes to the government, if the president of your country decides to sell off the country to another person I guess it is case closed right? If you can't call a cash grab for what it is, I will. Thats why the drama rating for this dropped so low it was almost embarassing.

Overall, I'm glad that this drama is to your taste and you enjoy it but it isn't for me and thank you for thinking I am "creepy" for making an account just to make a comment cause like you said right? Chill out lol it is just a "name".

I don't even like Goblin. What gives you the impression that I do lmao. I just know when to appreciate something that is worthy versus what they have done to this drama.

This comment section is meant for opinions to be given. If you don't like it than move on with your day (or feel free to be self righteous and take the higher moral ground lol. This is a drama rating website not some charity donation website where we discuss bettering the world jeez). And did you reall just say the drama is not based off of the manwha? Dude they literally bought the copyright to make the manwha into a live action. If you are gonna do that at least follow the source or make it good. This drama is not good even if you disregard that it is a live action. The female lead sucked at acting in this one (overly exergerated one dimensional character) and I've seen her do better when she is given the proper script (Even the original Soah who I thought was boring was more likeable than how they rewrote her character in the live action! The plotline sucked and there was no chemistry between the male and female lead (nam joohyuk has a handsome face but he is not a very charismatic actor, poor choice for the role of habaek). The comedy was....poor. It was the stereotypical korean humor seen across ALL modern kdrama and that was what made it boring and not unique. Honestly, I am 100% sure this drama attempted to be the next goblin lol. Goblin (I didn't like it either but it had amazing acting, plotline, chemistry, and the comedy was on point) basically created a new archetype for korean modern fantasy dramas which influenced dramas lile Habaek to be a flop because they all tried to copy goblin instead of be unique.

Valid points except I don't think this was meant to be an exact retelling of the manhua. From what I understand…
The only reason why the storyline IS DIFFERENT is because the production crew are greedy people who took more than they could chew. They bought the copyright for the manhua just for its name and fanbase. They wanted some quick cash and thats what they got but Karma got them and this drama had one of the lowest ratings in Korean history just to prove what shxt this was.
On The Bride of Habaek May 10, 2022
This drama is Trash.

1. The time period is wrong. It's supposed to be set in historical Korea based on the true story of Habaek, a very real god in Korean beliefs with some fantasy elements. And this plays a huge part in why the live action flopped. They exchanged the beautiful clothing of the manwha that would have been a perfect chance for Korea to flaunt it's traditions and culture for modern clothes that leave no impact because every other kdrama also has those clothes. I dare you to look at the manwha drawings and come back and tell me you would have preferred the boring clothes in the live action to the unique ones of the manwha.

2. The chemistry between the 2 leads was already perfect so why did the writers and production crew erase it all. In the original work So Ah was sold off as an offering to the water god because the village was suffering through a drought. This is a very real practice that used to happen and what it actually meant was being sent to drown and die. Habaek, the male lead, was suffering through a curse and so no matter who was sent as a bride, their was a curse that would have killed them unless they were the reincarnation of his dead lover Nakbin. So Ah manages to pass through and arrive at the palace of the Water God even though she is not Nak Bin. This means she was Habaek's fated destiny. Why would you remove this?

3. Erasing the supporting characters. They completely killed off the villain of the story, the Jade Emperor. They killed off Habaek's mom and dad who played a huge part in WHY Habaek was cursed. They killed off the story of the Weaver Girl and The Shepherd which played a big part in the story. Mu Ra and Bi Ryeom are also totally different too.

4. In the original, Habaek was cursed by Nakbin, his lover, who was sent by the Jade emperor to kill and or put Habaek under his control Hence why he had a night form of a child and a day form of an adult. Then later on, Habaek continues to lose his powers because he willingly gives it up to live a normal human life with So Ah. Habaek was willing to become human to stay with So Ah who did not want to become immortal and watch as her loved ones died like the Weaver goddess who killed her Shepherd husband who went crazy after becoming immortal! This is romance, this is the chemistry. Not Habaek losing his powers as some stupid punishment and meeting the female lead nonsense (so overdone in kdrama land).

5. There was literally a plotline where the gods are fighting for the throne and Habaek's parents must divorce andnsplit because Habaek's mom is friends with the Jade emperor. Meanwhile Habaek's dad is friends with the Fire God (Jade emperors brother). The Fire god made a promise when Habaek was born that He shall never harm Habaek because fire and water repel and harm eachother. The Jade emperor wants to use Habaek to kill the Fire God and hence why he sent Nakbin, his half human half god daughter to seduce and kill Habaek, but she places a curse on him instead to that he turns into a child im the daytime. This is why Nakbin dies and Habaek places a barrier on the Water Palace so that only her reincarnation may return back to him as one of the sacrifical brides. But So Ah who is not Nak Bin passes through the barrier as if it was Destiny. This is how you make a story. Not whatever shxt this drama is.

6. Don't even give me the excuse that the production crew had a limited budget. Just by looking at the manwha you already know it would require lots of money with the set, the storyline, etc. So why did they pick this script specifically? They just wanted to do a half ass job and lure all the fans of the manwha to watch without spending actual effort.
