The author rlly put a lot of thought into names. In Ancient China, Only ur very close friends and family call call u by ur "birth name" so theres a lot of meaning between the characters calling each other certain names. Lan Zhan subconsciously calling Wei Ying even though they just met symbolizing him starting to care about Wei Ying and him calling Jiang Cheng "Jiang WanYin" is basically saying we aren't familiar with each other and kinda display how he dislike Jiang Cheng for pointing his sword at Wei Ying. U might not know as international fans, but every character's name have a meaning and very likely come from a poem (not sure if its confirmed but their names u can find a similar poem for eac of them)
